Do you think cheaters ever really change?

i saw on an ex of mines facebook page his new girl friends (which is a girl he claimed to be just friends with when we were dating) has all these pictures talking about her hubby this and that and has his last name as on her name. so I couldn't help but laugh because I found out that he was cheating on me and we were together for over a year. Now I'm pretty sure he still is a dog like he was before so it is sad she doesn't know what kind of man she has. so the question is do you think cheaters ever really stop cheating?

Is it *possible* for people to change? Yes.

Is it *rare* for people to change? Yes.

Usually such changes happen in the aftermath of a very traumatic event that forces a person to reexamine their own values and behaviors, and even then, that person has to decide, for themselves, that they WANT to change. And they have to be mature enough for any of this to occur in the first place.

So, does any of this apply? I doubt it.

I did. I cheated once when I was 20 and it was one of the worst mistakes I ever made. I still hate myself for hurting my first love the way that I did. I learned my lesson (note: guys only learn this lesson if they have a conscience, otherwise they don't care).

I do think people change over a course of time. It doesn't happen immediately and they may not acknowledge and take responsibility for their actions, but as the years pass, they may look back and learn from such mistakes.

People grow, people mature, people begin to appreciate what they have and gain self control.

So yes, I do. HOWEVER, I personally would not trust someone who has a cheating past romantically, but that's just me.

No, I don't think they do. And I don't think they care because they don't think they are doing anything wrong.

Finding out the one you love has cheated on you is one of the most painful experiences you can imagine, isn't it? Absolutely gut wrenching. They don't get it at all.

All we can do is live the best life for us, be happy, and hope for karma to kick in fast. :)

My best friend in High school and after for a long time was a cheater and he never changed. He just stopped or a while.

Needless to say we aren't friends now, he just got a divorce and then got involved with the wrong crowd and I couldn't be his friend any more. He self destructed.

Yeah being a playing is fun when your under 25 but after than it just destroys you.

I think people can change, wreather it be for better or worse. And I think a cheater could stop cheating, and have a really good relationship some day. But with that being said, if a guy cheated on me, I would never be able to trust him again. I would always be wondering where he really was when he said he was going out with his friends, or who he was really talking to or texting. I can't be with somebody I don't trust. No matter how much they changed.

once they have a conscience and feel heavy guilt for their actions or they become more serious in life, the possibility for change is there. I use to cheat on my previous boyfriend and I changed. I am faithful to my bf.

Cheating & lying..seems to usually be pathological...I wouldn't say "never" but I would have to think that "seldom" would apply...

I know cheaters can change. I was once a cheater and now I am not. Not all cheaters will change.
