He sent me flowers and food to make up for it. I was okay for the time being but now, it's taking a toll in my mental health. I would cry in the middle of working. He said he was sorry and signed us up for a couple therapy because he said he is willing to change.
Woah, man calling you ugly and insulting your body during a fight is really not cool at all. That's straight up disrespectful. I know he apologized and stuff, but something like that can really hurt. The fact that it's now messing with your mental health is a big deal too. Couples therapy could maybe help if he's serious about changing, but it's totally up to you if you still want to be with him after that. Personally I don't think I could get past it. If it was a one time thing during a huge fight I'd say maybe give it another chance, but the way it's affecting you now shows it really cut deep. Your self esteem and happiness are so important. Don't feel like you need to stay just because he said sorry - an apology doesn't undo hurtful words. Follow your gut on this. If being with him is now making your mental health worse instead of better, that's a sign it might be time to end it. You deserve to be with someone who treats you with respect always, not just when things are good. That's just my two cents! Ultimately do what feels right for you.
I think that if he hurt you that much you probably should leave. Though if he is actually going to get help and is truly sorry. Then it wouldn't be terrible to stay with him. The question you have to ask yourself is what he did too much for you to handle?
