I appreciate the never get back with an ex opinion and I'm the same way but I've got a couple friends that got broken up with and never got over their ex. The women both admit they made a mistake and there are kids involved which complicates things.

The dumper. And the dumped should give SERIOUS thought before accepting. I personally have a "1 strike you're out" policy with the opposite gender. I don't give second chances. And I will go as far as to tell her, "make sure this is what you want. Because if you walk out that door, that door will remain closed". Not because I'm issuing an idle threat or because I'm trying to have the last word. But because I want her to understand that when I say I'm in i mean I'm all in. And that if she is with me she has to show the same commitment. I will not tolerate less. If we can't stay together and hash out whatever problems we're having then it's best she just remain gone.

Personally, I would never get back together with a woman who had dumped me, since they will just do it again when they find yet another "better" guy.

I'm not to sure, it kinda depends on why they broke up, what their relationship was like and yes if they have kids. But to be honest this is something the woman and man of the relationship should talk about with a third party person who they trust and has been in a similar situation but handled it well.
But then again it's just my opinion.
