I blocked my ex on instagram and everything else a day ago. Today I found out he blocked me back? What’s the purpose of blocking me when your already blocked?

What's the purpose of blocking someone if you're going to be upset that they blocked you? I wouldn't be looking up the profile of someone I blocked a day after I blocked them, and I'm absolutely blocking someone who blocked me back.

Sort your emotions out before entering the next relationship, please.

It's just symbolic, probably as much to himself as to you. Just leave it alone, process your emotions, and move on. Worries about something like getting blocked by someone you blocked isn't going to help you or make you feel any better.
