Did he wanted to get revenge?

1) 8 months ago, I found out my ex lied to me and probably cheated. I cut contact with him with no discussion.

2) After few months (I know it’s very childish) but I was so angry and hurt that he didn’t even gave me an explanation, I wanted to hurt him. I posted an old picture of me and an other ex boyfriend (as if it was the present). He saw it but didn’t say anything.

3) Two months ago, he started reaching out to me , asking how I was almost every day ( I barely answered). Then last week, he proposed that we go on a weekend. I accepted, thinking maybe we would be able to talk.

4) We had a lot of fun, but then he started asking a lot of questions about « the guy on the picture ». Was making jealous remarks etc…

5) At the end, we had s*x etc and he went back home. Since then, he text me almost everyday but so cold, just telling me « I hope you had a great day », « or that you’re enjoying the sun » but it if I try to reply and asking the same about him, he doesn’t reply.

6) I’m starting to think that he wanted to come just to get revenge that I had an « other » man. To have s*x with me and then leave me wondering…

What do you think? Help!
The worst part is I didn’t see anyone during these months 😭

Wow that really sucks what your ex put you through. It sounds like he never really cared about your feelings at all. A few things stand out to me:

1. He's the one who lied and cheated first, so you didn't really do anything wrong by posting that old pic to get back at him a bit. Most guys would be mad in your situation.

2. It's super sketchy that after not talking for months, he suddenly started reaching out and wanting to see you again. Most likely he just wanted something from you.

3. The way he was asking about the guy in the pic and being jealous seems like he was just trying to get under your skin and make you feel bad.

4. His cold texts now make it sound like he got what he wanted (s*x) and isn't interested anymore. Probably was just using you for revenge too like you said.

I'd say your gut feeling is right - he just wanted to hurt you back for posting that pic by sleeping with you and then ditching. Some guys are petty like that, especially when they were in the wrong to begin with. You're definitely better off without him! Don't waste any more time thinking about some dude who treats you bad. Keep your head up - his loss!

You should not have allowed it to happen. The affair was done between you, so meeting and talking further only sent the wrong message. Your recent moves, such as sleeping together, were inappropriate, showing him that he can easily have you whenever he wants. It was not wise for you to allow this to happen.
