Should I remind my crush that I like him, as my reason for not wanting to spend time helping him improve a skill, or use a different excuse?

I told my crush I like him a while ago. He didn't want to go out, so I started avoiding places where he went. But recently, we saw each other, and he realized we could help each other to become better at a particular hobby, acting as if everything is normal. Since he's acting like I never told him I liked him, I'd feel like I was coming off as looking too intense if I were to say, "Sorry, but I'm worried that I'll fall back in love with you if we helped each other like that". But I also don't want to look like I'm too self-centered to help him, by coming up with some lame excuse to get out of the interaction. What do I do?

Keep avoiding him like you were trying to do in the first place , you already expressed your feelings to him once already , and he chose not to accept your offer , so he had his chance and he blew it , if you give him another chance? You will just be a convenience to him and he will more than likely try to use you while blowing smoke up your ass to make you think he is really into you when really he isn’t. Never allow yourself to be a convenience to anyone , you will only be hurting yourself by allowing yourself to be vulnerable to that nonsense. Just ignore him and move on and find yourself a guy that chooses you the same way you choose them. Do not allow yourself to be used

Maybe he’s realizing he’s also into you but is ashamed to admit it since he turned you down already so he’s trying to get close to you again

If you've informed him and nothing has changed, he may not feel the same way, and it may be making him uncomfortable, but it's your decision. Are you willing to accept the fact that he may not feel the same way about you?

Best you can do is stay friends and see if time can't sway him to your side. The odds are against you tho, but people change and so do feelings. It's one of those cases it's either going to happen or it's not. No sense pushing it or wasteing anymore energy on it.
