Honestly, with how depraved the world is these days, it's safe to assume He truly is an honourable man. Otherwise, He could just accept Your dating offer, use You for His own pleasure, and then dump You once He's bored with You. Unless He actually married You, He would not risk much persecution for that. Thus, it's safe to assume He's an honourable man aiming for a serious, stable, long-term relationship with You and that He rejected Your offer of dating You out of respect for You, since it would be dishonest on His part to date You while not yet being in love with You.

Either way, I'd say... set a period in which you will do this and accept his invites.
Then after a set period, just make it clear that he will have to decide to either keep you or let you go. Cuz otherwise he'll be just torturing you.
