Why does my crush acts like he doesn't care?

Hi everyone :)
It's been one year now I have got a crush on a man. When I first met him I was in a relationship , he knew my boyfriend , didn't knew me personally but he knew I was in a relationship. One day I had an argue with my boyfriend ( now ex ) and decided to go out for the night on my own, I bumped into him and he asked me if I wanted to go to the pub with him even though we've talked only once before this day. We had such a great moment ! I really felt some sort of connexion between us. When I came back home on this night my ex asked me where I was and I said the truth to him , my ex went mad at me and he said to my crush to stay away from me , my crush said " no worries , I won't see her again " . It's been one year now but I didn't forget about him , I really like him , he doesn't have any social network so I couldn't apologies to him , after I broke up with my ex I sent a message to one of his friend to give him my phone number. His friend said to me his phone is broken atm but I shall pass the message onto him next time I'll see him. It's been more than one week and I have no news about him , I can't believe his phone is still broken I have said to his friend " alright I understand I am not his kind of girl " but is friend told me " his phone is still broken , if he's keen I am sure he will be in touch at some point " . I don't understand , he seemed interested one year ago , I said to his friend I am single now but I think he might be a bit scared of my ex or he probably thinks I am a bad person because I said to my ex I was having a drink with him even tho we agreed to not say anything to anyone when we were in the pub. I can't understand , do you have any advice? I don't want to look too desesperate but I really want to see him again.

But maybe he's not interested like that anymore cause like c'mon a broken phone the same guy you bump into at night than hanged out has a broken phone when he can just pull up at you're place if he knows I mean an you guys can see what's up I'm sorry but it sounds like a excuse

Yeah I definetely agree , to me it is definetely an excuse but I just don't understand why he can't just say " I don't want to talk to you " or why his mate is lying to me saying he broke his phone, we had such a great moment. I think he might be really scared of my ex ( this guy was a psycho haha ) or not interested in me anymore but I don't understand. It's been ages I didn't have a guy rejecting me haha 😂

I dunno :/ he probably lost interest it's been one year now. I bumped into him again a few months after that but I was still with my ex , he smiled at me in a awkward way and then looked away and I was too shy to say anything to him at this moment. Now he knows I am not with my ex anymore and I gave him my phone number I don't know why he doesn't want to try anything , we had à lot in common

I wish I could talk to him :/ the only problem is he doesn't have any social network , we don't really have friends in common , I don't have his phone number and I do live in a big town , my only chance to ever see him again would be to bump into him again haha

When I bumped into him it was only the second time I was meeting him and he remembered small details about the first time we met like the way I was dressed even tho it was 3 weeks before , he also asked me question like " what do you think about English men? " And then he offered me a drink. I don't know it seemed clear enough for me but maybe because our cultures are different I fooled myself.
