Do you go about life as normal, or try to avoid your ex purposefully?

Let’s say you’re with someone new, do you purposefully avoid your ex? Or do you just go about your daily business not caring?

I try to avoid mine where possible

My ex-wife? Toxic, I don't want to be in the same city with her. I last saw her and our child's wedding. We didn't speak, although I had a nice conversation with her sister and brother-in-law. I hope that is the last time I ever see her. We now have a grandchild and I'll have to avoid her for any special events.

What makes her toxic?

She's a narcissist and habitual liar, and was emotionally abusive to me and to our child. My child somehow has managed to have a productive relationship with her, probably by setting and enforcing boundaries. When I started doing that she divorced me.

I don't avoid ex. But then she lives 45min away, over the river in a different county, and the only mutual friends we had I believe she stopped talking to. Haven't seen her in 7 years

I was a very late bloomer so my ex was my first for everything. I thought she was great at the time, but things didn't end in the best way. I know there's no way back. I have occasionally wondered what she was up to and how she was.
