My relationship of 3 years ended, how can I deal with all the heartbreak, pain and sorrow?
4 moFirstly , attempt to accept the loss. It makes sense that it hurts !!.
Don’t give into the feeling that you wasted that 3 years , just because it ended doesn’t mean it was all for nothing , loving someone deeply is never a waste.
Right now it likely feels like the rest of your life has changed in a heartbeat. But it won’t define the rest of your life even though it might feel like it right now
Sometimes the hardest part of love isn’t loosing someone , it’s loosing the life you imagined having with them
Most of all !! … be patient with yourself. You don’t have to get over this today , tomorrow or even next month , life will go on though and you will be happy again
Heartbreak is may be a risk of love , but avoiding love to avoid heartbreak will cost you more.42 Reply- 4 mo

4 moIt's honestly a work in progress. Some days will be easier than others. I will say do not get into another relationship or start dating until you feel completely healed which many will say doesn't take long but when you've been with someone longer than a year, it will because you've gotten so used to being with this person and opened up your heart to them. That kind of bond doesn't just go away just because they left and stopped loving you.
Friends and family are your go to! Go out as much as possible! Spend a lot of time with them because they will help you not think about the loss so much.
Don't blame yourself for the loss especially if it ended amicably. It is something that many of us go through and we put a lot of guilt on ourselves about how if only we did this or that, they may not have left or you may not have needed to leave if it was you who ended it.
But I will leave you with this... it really does take a lot of time but it will heal you eventually. 💜00 Reply

@Bbblittle You have no basis for saying "She probably cheated." Just where the hell do you get off making such an assumption and writing it publicly? You have made this up out of whole cloth! Maybe YOU cheat in YOUR relationships, but, unbelievable as it may seem, not everybody else does!
- 4 mo
@Keyboardkat Also note... There's no basis to say she didn't cheat...
And no... I've never cheated in a relationship. All my exes cheated on me. That's why I don't care about stating my opinion publicly. But keep crying. Let's see how far hard those tears drop - 4 mo
@Keyboardkat and from your reply to me... You don't know female nature.

4 moI've had a few heartbreaks, ending relationships, including getting divorced after 20+ years. I've learned the best thing to do involves two steps:
1 - take a short while to grieve
2 - find someone to start a new relationship
That worked for me. I am married again, 9 years and counting.

10 Reply Accept that you haven't lost anything... All that stuff happened and will always be a part of you... Realize you instead gained an opportunity to find some greater potential... No more time on what does not work and time for finding what does... The ability to learn from the failure and adapt your strategy to achieve your goals.. discover what you need in another to fill in the places you lack... gives you strength when you feel weak. hears when you scream silently, Is a shield when you're afraid. whatever it is so that as you grow together the tree you grow will be strong to stand any storm and bare fruit so sweet you'll want no other

4 moEnding a 3-year relationship can feel like losing a big part of your life. It’s completely normal to feel sadness, confusion, anger, or even emptiness after a breakup. Healing from heartbreak takes time, but there are healthy ways to cope and slowly regain emotional balance. Some people also explore love problem solutions or relationship guidance to help them process the breakup, gain emotional healing, and understand whether reconciliation is possible or if it’s healthier to move on.
Remember that healing doesn’t happen overnight. Many people who go through deep heartbreak eventually discover new strength, self-understanding, and better relationships in the future Be patient with yourself—you deserve peace and happiness again.11 ReplyI’m sorry you’re dealing with that. A three-year relationship isn’t easy to let go of… so what you’re feeling is completely normal.
The best thing you can do right now is give yourself time and lean on friends or family… focus on taking care of yourself. It won’t hurt this intensely forever, even though it feels like it right now. Just be kind to yourself.

The loss of a love relationship like this is processed by the brain the same way as a death in the family, and the person who broke your heart is the one who has "died." It is, therefore, necessary to go through a normal grieving and mourning process before you can heal. This process cannot be rushed. It can help if you find things to occupy you. Take a course, learn a new language, take up a musical instrument, take a trip to someplace you've never been, join a club, whatever interests you. But one caveat: do NOT date anyone else for at least a year. You are not ready. You are not emotionally available to someone else right now! There can be a tendency to latch onto someone attractive and nice, but what you're really doing is using them for a band-aid, which you will probably eventually "tear off." The other person wil not realize this and may fall for you. This is not a fair thing to do to someone! (I was guilty of this myself around 50 years ago. I ended up hurting someone nice, and it is one of the biggest regrets of my life. I wish I could find her so I could apologize and ask forgiveness, but after all these years I don't know how that would be received). Don't do it. You will know when you're ready. When the mention of his name no longer feels like kick in the stomach, when "that song" no longer moves you to tears, when you no longer cross the street to avoid him when you see him coming... you'll know. I wish you the very best. May you be blessed.
4 moFind distraction... Whether that's friends, traveling, finding another guy or anything else that gets you to not think about your ex doesn't matter... Just find anything that works for you. Nothing worse than having too much time to think about the stuff that makes you unhappy.

4 moCry about it for a while, have a rot day or two just to keep crying about it, do some journaling, a little soul-searching, take the lessons you’re meant to take from the end of the relationship, accept them, breathe deep, and move on

4 moIn life I always say if you never try you will never know & as for life there are so many things worth trying & when it comes to love don’t give up on trying or trying again.
As for you it’s time for you to face the sunshine & let the shadows cast behind you. As for life it moves on & it moves forward & day by day forward you will move as well.
The best way to get over someone is to get under someone new so go have some fun, get back out there & remember condoms prevent minivans.

4 moNo one can tell you what to feel or how long to feel.
Heartbreak, pain, sorrow comes at a genuine loss of love which sucks.Basically, try to reflect on the kind, wonderful, amazing people in your life now and spend time with those that you hold dear, find a safe space to share your feelings as you try to go on with your life, and do things that make you happy to occupy your mind from what once was.

4 moThirty-year marriages can end in an instant, Hannah. Look at it from this perspective. Okay, I'm not belittling you, let's empathize. Maybe you loved him very much, but take inspiration from people who are in worse situations. Life goes on, and it will come and go like this...

4 moGet through the stages of greif. This is just like when a loved one dies.

Once you accept it... figure out your plan to move on without him.
00 ReplyTime is the only thing that will heal wounds. But I also think broken hearts never heal completely. Just hang in there and ask friends for help. Keep yourself and your mind occupied. Don't despair, you need to close that door to be able to open new ones.

4 moJust wait. If you want to get over them fast then detoxify your body. People are biochemical electrical machines and your attraction to your boyfriend was created and maintained by chemicals and pheromones. In a relationship you are actually physically addicted to the drugs your partners body produces and when you break up you go through physical withdrawal. Usually it takes a month detox and recover from a drug habit if yo do it without more drugs.

4 moYou could try drinking, or meaningless sex with strangers, or possibly you could join a cult.
If none of those work, try to find an absorbing activity. Something you can pour all your excess time and energy and emotional turmoil into. Join a gym, or write a novel, or get your Master's degree. Something like that.
Hope it works out for you.

4 moI have always said you have to go through the storm in order to know truly understand how to work through the pain. But right now I'm sure this feels raw. Focusing on yourself with prayer, exercise, self care, all of these things can help you. The song I am linking has always helped me. I hope it can help you.
