Do guys ever get over their first love?

I was his first love we dated for almost two years, our reason for breaking up was we fought too much which was almost always due to jealousy. When we first broke up he tried very hard to make me jealous and now after we have been broken up for about 4 months he has been going through girl after girl. He "dates" some poor girl for about a week then moves onto a different one. He goes through phases where all he wants is my attention and all he wants to do is be my friend and then all of a sudden he hates me and wants nothing to do with me. As a couple we did everything together and if we weren't together (rare) we would be constantly texting and calling each other (if I fell asleep I would wake up with missed calls and many texts from him) the only time we would actually fight was when we weren't with each other and we were worrying about each other. As I described how everything is it may seem as if I broke it off but it was him so that just makes the situation that much more confusing for me. So does a guy ever get over his first love? If so how long does it take? And could anyone explain to me why he is behaving this way?

My first love and I became friends eventually, but it took almost two years. He is moving on with dating others, and I already did. However, he told me that I'll always be special to him because I was his first. I'm sure that the first girl he ever loved (you) will hold a place in his heart, even if he does move on. After all, you set the precendence for relationships and girls with him in those two years. My ex also ended it with me, but kept sort of waffling back and forth in his decision, even though we didn't ever end up back together, so I bet yours feels the same way mine did.

Yup. I've seen it happen a lot.

Especially if she was a bitch who broke his heart.

Lots of girls don't want to believe that guys get over their first love because it makes them feel special and desired but hun;Guys get over their first love ESPECIALLY if there were areas of the relationship she failed in. Or if a new girl came along and did what his first love didn't/wouldn't/couldn't.

I'm pretty sure they do the thing is, is that they always have a place for them,...in their minds I'm sure they always reminisce about him\her once in a while.

Sane guys do, usually in one to three months. For creepy obsessive insane people like your ex the process might take a bit longer. From the way you've described him I'd get a restraining order.

It's hard, but when they meet the girl of their dreams, yes they do. Most often they get through the pain by just seeing more girls, this is often encouraged by other guys.
