This is a sales gimmick for robots. Dating a robot is, in my opinion, mindbogglingly dumb.

It's an opportunity to invest in those robot manufacturer's stocks or something though, that's if there is enough demand and repeat customers that keep buying this kind of thing. Helps diversify ones retirement portfolio if you really think about it. And yes, gimmicks indeed, but that's just how it is, it's all marketing more than anything else. If the demand is there, then there will be a supply.

@JudgmentDay If people want to invest in such, then that's their decision. But I personally think it's ridiculous.

If there is a market and demand then it will attract investors looking to build a portfolio make some money or extra income, I personally think we all could use some of that, if you have extra money you're willing to risk for investments, especially because nowadays with how unstable the economy is, nobody can or should solely rely on an employer or company to take care of them all the way into retirement anymore. What I was thinking is, figure out which companies manufacture and produce the components and parts for these robots and then invest in their stocks or whatever and monitor it's progress and if robot dating, sex, whatever, etc., becomes the next big thing with enough or more than enough demand then that helps one make some decent amount of gains. Not guaranteed obviously, but you never know since sex sells and it has potential for growth and people tend to get addicted, obsessed and engrossed with those kind of things, which is why I think one should leverage it, capitalize on it, and take advantage of it in any possible way that one can.

@JudgmentDay I'm all for investing, but not if the investments are unethical, at least to me. I'm not going to invest in something that is bad to invest in, no matter how successful (in terms of people making money off of it) it becomes.

I just look it as do whatever it takes to survive or delay or postpone the inevitable that I like to call it. If it works, then so be it, it's not my fault others choose whatever they do, I blame it on the unstable and volatile economic situation. I'm not the one accountable or responsible for what others wanted to do with their lives and how they wanted to live their life.

However, if I was financially stable and all with very little to no worries and concerns that some day I would end up completely broke and homeless having to live and sleep on the streets, starving, stuck in the cold and all because of an unexpected job loss, and after using up all unemployment benefits and still haven't recovered and employed in a new job all so I'd be able to affors to continue pay my rent, bills, transportation, etc. then it would rather be irrelevant, and I would not even bother to consider it. Maybe I'd invest in other things with smaller and safer consistent gains. This seems to be quite risky but it also seems like there are potential for growth.

It's just that we can longer solely and entirely depend upon and rely on a company and employer to take care of us all the way until it's the day and time that we retire, well not anymore anyway. Unexpected job loss can happen one day, entire departments can become discontinued, off shored or outsourced to some 3rd party, because you never know when things are going go bad and wrong.

Why would you marry a robot? That doesn't make sense.

You're just going through life not being appreciated by anything. Anything nice that robot says you'll know isn't genuine feelings and it's just a lifeless program making noises.

Just buy a pocket pussy. It's less expensive than the robot. Those things are going to be in the 5-6 digit expense range.

They might be more affordable if renting them ever become a possibility. I just see it as a potential for investment in stocks of manufacturers that make the products, the parts, the components, etc., if there is sufficient demand and growth because you never know? If there are enough people that keep paying for these kinds of products and services on a regular basis it would be something to consider to take advantage of. Although it might get regulated eventually. Always buy them stocks when it's low and sell once they reach a certain point.

Then the stock prices and values for the manufacturers of robot components, etc. might increase too right? If so, best to invest in them early while they are low enough or while you still can.

The nature of human relationships is exciting and fulfilling. Something a robot will never be able to give. You should watch season 2 episode 1 (“Be Right Back”) of Black Mirror to see exactly what I mean.

A robot doesn't care if I spend the day with another robot. And a robot won't spend all my money on handbags.
Also, I've never heard of a robot that cries when a reality show contestant gets kicked from the show.

Look at the ad hominem of the females comments section.
They know they can be replaced and so resort to indirect insults.
And then society wonders why we need or have sex robots in the first place.
      This is exactly why.

To own, probably. But to rent? Possibly. If robot dating is the next big thing, invest in the manufacturer's stock or any business that offers those services and products. If they ever get that addictive, it'll be like buying and investing in stocks for cigarette companies, can't lose much if they are always going to have business and returning customers.

Eh, I don't see it being that appealing to rent a sex robot.

And I think it either wouldn't be advanced enough to really pass for a human or it becomes so advanced that they are so much more intelligent than we are that the notion it would yield itself to being an expensive sex toy seems silly.

Not yourself, others that might rent it. Think "outside if the box" and then think how one can possibly leverage this, capitalize on it and take advantage of it.

Maybe not at first. But it's something to consider or even monitor as people tend to get engrossed and addicted to stuff like this. You know what they say? "Sex sells" and pretty much anything relevant to sex will make money, maybe not massive yields and returns, but you can never absolutely know though. Now if only we can figure out which companies mass produces and manufactures the parts and components for these machines then that would be a good start. The downside though is that once it gets too popular then the governments may start to crack down on it and tighten regulations, etc. and if there's bad publicity that would very much and potentially hurt gains.

That's true but I am still skeptical.

I think virtual reality sex probably has a better chance of taking off compared to real life sex robots. Probably is a lot more likely to happen in our lifetime too.

Yea that too. My whole point is to capitalize and take advantage of those types of addictions so one can earn extra income, a backup source of income, especially for emergencies with the way how unstable and volatile the economy is. Emergencies including an unexpected and sudden job loss one day, as collecting unemployment and looking for work simply is inadequate and not secure enough. And I think and believe when unexpected shit like that happens, people eventually would end up completely broke and homeless, starving, living and sleeping on the streets all because they did not think and plan ahead or anticipate the worst would happen to them some day.

@JamesRandiDebates I am actually on the Autism Spectrum and it is in our nature to be loyal since we have a hard time forming relationships. I treat my friends as family. I have been taken advantage of by my a few so-called "friends", that took advantage of my kind, good-natured, naive heart. What about reaching out to someone with a disability? They tend to make better friends/lovers in most situations, at least in my experience.
