There's definitely controversy and dark sides to rap and hip hop, but as an art form, I think you can exercise it without dipping into the dark side.

i'll tell you this--the controversy surrounding Nas--i was repulsed... but not surprised. i don't agree with you. when i learned about how DMX died--i knew and i waited, i knew it was either drugs or murdered. again, some don't even let their own kids listen to it. kids are impressionable and find being ''gangsta'' is cool... goes downhill from there.

I agree that kids shouldn't listen to rap, especially because they take things at face value and don't question some of the absolute nonsense that comes out of these rappers mouths.
