What's the point of having a coupon if you don't use it? It doesn't " cheapen" the date at all so why not?
Congrats to my date for being smart and saving money on on their meal sounds fine to me I don't know am i supposed to be disgusted that they use one or something XD?
If they're paying for me then I really wouldn't care. Though in general it seems like a bad idea to use a coupon on a first date.
Why's that?
Why's what exactly? Why I wouldn't care or why it seems like a bad idea?
Reason why I wouldn't care is because it's free for me and I'm mot dating someone for the money they earn? Maybe they're trying to save up for something and using a coupon helps with that. Maybe they're in a tight spot but have a reasonable plan to work out of it.
The reason why it seems like a bad idea is because first impressions (maybe second in this case) are important and I've heard that using a coupon comes off as cheap. So I personally wouldn't do it. I'd rather stay single and not date until I'm in a comfortable position financially to do so without using or needing a coupon, than to date and use one. Chances are if I'm using a coupon on a date I need a better job.
Ah okay. Seems reasonable to me
Oh, incredibly cheap and disrespectful! ... not to mention tacky as hell!
I'd MUCH rather just pay for my own meal and his having dignity and self respect to pay for his meal with his own money - no coupon required...
If I see a coupon in any first few dates situation, I'm outta there!
(I am all for saving money... but if you need to use coupons so often then you may want to reconsider going OUT TO EAT in the first place.)
*This is why I never go out to eat... I know I can't afford it. So I buy good ingredients and cook at home - like a reasonable person.
You don't sound like a reasonable person
@Hastur225 shhh... she doesn't know that.
@Hastur225 Haha The fact you think coupons save you any money is the unreasonable thing here... They raise their prices so much that with that coupon they're still ripping you off...
+ I'm talking about my country where it's pretty expensive and almost never within our paycheck's means to just go out to eat...
But nice to know 6 people already think I'm American and am just an unreasonable cheap person... =)
I can't spell for shit right now so don't blame me for that
@LittleSally well... Most people seem to think that using coupons is thrifty.. Why spend more money than is necessary? That sort f thing. It can show responsibility and resourcefulness.
Oh, I can definitely understand and agree, but not on a first date. Call me old fashioned, I still feel like there should be some pretense of politness in the beginning of a relationship. xD
Also - I'd much rather have a really good dinner at home than a sub par one with a coupon...
(Where I live a good mean in a restaurant is about 10% of an average paycheck, and we don't have coupons for good restaurants, only for fast food ones... Also - it's a tourist obsessed country, which is why the prices are so high - not expensive for a tourist, extremely expensive for a local. This is partly why I voted 'no' to a coupon as well...)
Ah okay! That's understandable then.. What country do you live in? I'm just curious
I'd actually prefer that. I like someone who knows how to save money!
I think it's fine, lol. Why not? Saving money is always a good thing.
lol If he's paying? I don't give a crap how he's paying. I'm just appreciating that he was being a gentleman and taking me on a real date.
You don't care how much he is paying? what if its really expensive? like a $100 glass of wine
@pluto1 I said I don't care how he's paying. She asked if we care if the person uses a coupon. I don't care if he uses the coupon. I dunno where your question is coming from.
"Woah, she's thrifty!"
Though I guess I'd be pissed if we were paying for ourselves and she only had a coupon for herself. Or if the restaurant was as shitty as the food, then she'd be cheap.
If we’re old enough to have coupons on hand, our first date wouldn’t be somewhere that accepted coupons.
Haha nice
I would think my date is very intelligent and financially savvy!
It's a little weird so it's risky, but luckily, I'm the kinda person who loves that kinda thing
I like dominant women but even still I wouldn't want her to pay for my food without me contributing something.
You only get one chance to make a first impression. I wouldn't want MY date thinking I was too cheap to go full price - on the first date !!
for me its perfectly fine , it means that person values money and know how to save up :) and i can learn from him
I would get a huge erection because that means she's smart with money.
Anybody who'd be "offended" is an idiot.
No problem as long he pays for my meal too
I think I found new level of cheapness
Why does he have to pay for your meal also?
I don't really have a problem with it, but not sure if i'd want to use one on a first date but it wouldn't make me think less of the guy
I guess it does not matter but what matters more is if they have a giving/sharing spirit or are they self-centered.
She's smart asf and i'm gonna need to bring some next time
I'd be fine with it. If I'm not paying for the meal who am I to think badly of that?
I have an app on my phone which gives me discounts on a bunch of restaurants. I don't care which date it is.. I'm using it.
totally fine with me... shows he is responsible with his money, which is very important
"I have that coupon too! We'll use mine next time... If you want there to be a next time. Please let there be a next time... Please?"
I wouldn't be bothered. There's no harm in using a coupon
I'd be like good on ya! Save where you can, smart man
Using coupons are fine. I see nothing wrong with that.
I'd be the one to ask him if he thinks they'll allow us to combine his and mine.
Does any company still allow combined offers or coupons anymore? Seems like every coupon or sale ad has that caveat in fine print these days.
Seriously? I’d think, good for him. If I thought anything of it at all.
If I were on a date, we wouldn't be at a place that even takes coupons.
Sounds good. I'm cheap so that is exactly my kind of thing. Saving money is a good thing.
That would save money, that is simply beneficial, nothing else
If she pays for herself, coupon or no coupon I think it's fine. If it only works for one person, I don't expect her to give it to me either, vice versa
id be happy because id see that she's not some golddigger
Id be asking where she got those coupons from! Cos i'd want some.
Lol, samee
If they use a coupon, I'll feel less awkward because usually guys insist to pay.
I wouldn't ever do that myself. Don't know why, exactly, but I wouldn't.
Lol it looks bad but I wouldn't cast him off just for that. If I liked him, I'd still go out with him again
As long as she tips according to the regular price, I have no issue.
Coupon or gift card it’s fine with me we all have to save money to survive somehow
AYEEEE. SAVING MONEY. GOOD FOR YOU and then i pull out my stack of coupons
I would really love it if a girl pays for my dinner - even using coupons.
I'd think that I better get her back to the nursing home pretty quick before Judge Judy comes on.
mho right here
I'd think they are a noob in the dating scene xD or just poor.
Why's that?
Cause if he was experienced, he'd know it makes him look cheap and poor xD
Apparently most females seem to find it ok! I'm intrigued haha
I guess it's fine, but it would seem he picked the restaurant just for that and not because he liked it maybe?
I would not be offended at all. In fact, it's rather flattering when they would use such a thing as it is not common at all.
I will tell the waitres that I want to pay and I will pay for both or at least for mine
Smart move! Fiscal responsibility is sexy :)
Dating on a budget has its limits, I wouldn't use a coupon on a first date though.
If I liked the meal, why should I care for how it got paid? doesn't matter.
With financial pressure these days and the price of things rising its perfectly fine
Maybe not for the first date.. But I wouldn't be too bothered.
Tbh, I wouldn't on a first date just because of the impression it might make. But if someone else did it I wouldn't care.
Coupons wouldn't bug me since it's saving both of us money that we could spend elsewhere although I would feel sour if I had her pay with money
I’d be thinking “yayyy they’re like me”.
Means he knows how to budget.
If we were friends who started dating then no, not offended. If it was a first date where we met for coffee - like we met online and we were meeting in person - then yes, dude, put some effort in lol
Effort? He trying to save money might be able to save a quid you never know
@LifetimeLoner Then don't be dating lol
Haha no poor people allowed to date.. seems fair lol not that any of that affects me since my face does enough to scare off dates 😂😂😂😂
@Prettygurl12 if anything.. Wouldn't being financially aware and being smart to save money be the biggest effort of them all? 🤔
@ebbyeb - on the second date, yeah. But we're adults here. Adults should be able to pay for two meals at a restaurant without it hurting the bank. When I asked my fiance out, I paid because I was the one who asked. And I used real money - no gift cards. It just leaves a bad impression if you don't show you *have* actual real money.
doesn't that make the whole thing shallow if you have to proove you have money or it looks bad i mean what if they legitimatley dont have a lot of money then are they just out of the question
@LifetimeLoner At my age? Yes, sorry. Either ask me on a "free" date like a walk in the park or the beach or you have enough money to pay for dinner. I don't see how that's difficult.
Fair enough im just saying that to be honest for example me right now i lost my job because the company went bust and im struggling to replace the job but want to treat a girl to a dinner date you would find that unattractive and possibly a deal breaker?
@LifetimeLoner I suppose that depends how long we'd been talking prior to the date.
Well thats a fair point yeah i mean i see how it looks bad its really embarrasing to be honest when people ask what you do aswell and you have to say unemployed
@LifetimeLoner You're 20. No one expects you to have a job really until you're like 22.
But when i had a job in the exact field i wanted it felt reallly sh*ty to not have it anymore haha i was an electrical engineer working on-site at a powerstation it was really what id always wanted tobdo
There's nothing wrong... What do you care about the food or the money?
If I invited HER to dinner (ESPECIALLY a first date !)... I would pay...
"Oh shit she smart and likes to save money, good for her god damn it"
As shallow as yhe girls are were I'm from? No I would never do that. Might even tip the waiter $200.00 bucks just to show off.
