Girls, Can I call a girl "sweetie"?

There's this girl that I'm talking to online and she's really nice to me and I think she's sweet. I don't know if I will try to pursue her or anything, but basically I want her to know that I really like her, so I was thinking about addressing her as "sweetie" the next time I exchange messages with her. Is this a bad idea? Is this weird or would she be turned off?

I was thinking something like:
"Sweetie, check this website out!" or "Thank you, sweetie, I appreciate it!"

Honestly if someone calls me sweetie I immediately assume they're a creep if Im not dating them or know them extremely well, and I cut contact since most creepy guys who have hit on me online use that nickname

Its not really the word it's the people who use it.

I've been hit on a LOT by random dudes online (not really on gag but on other sites) and the ones who were creepy often used sweetie

I never said it was hard, all I'm saying is I never got the chance to do it (or what I seen was a chance).
