Why do most women have unreasonably high standards?

It depends from person to person. There are some women who value personality, charm, income, career, ambitions etc. more than looks. Same thing applies to men. Some men prefer personality and don't care much about looks, but others prefer people looking like Adriana Lima or any other models and don't like Plain Jane.

Anyway, a theory says that women are more likely to be picky than men when it comes to both physical attractiveness, personalities, how much the man can provide etc. because women can only produce a child at a time and a pregnancy last 9 months. It's not only time and energy consuming to be pregnant, but women often wants to take care of their children until it reach adulthood and wants a provider to be sure the child would be safe and grow up properly. Therefor women have to be more selective to get a healthy and good offspring.

Men however don't need to worry that much, since they can theoretically impregnate many women at the same time and it wouldn't be a problem in a polygamy society. One of the biological goal for the humanity is to survive and reproduce. If a man has sex with five different women, it's possible to get five children. If he have sex with them again, it would be ten children.

I've seen some jaw droppers go for dudes that are financially stable that were maybe average in attractiveness at best...
While at the same time I've been told very often that I'm very attractive (used to be, at least) , yet I can't get a text back because I live with my parents (My best guess).

Appearance isn't everything, if you're interested in a girl simply because she's hot, you're cheating yourself.

They only got those women because they had money. Money changes things. And people telling you you're attractive doesn't mean anything. Anybody can find someone attractive but it doesn't mean they'll date them.

Yeah that's my point- Attractive just gets you in the door. I did well for myself back in college but at my age now, I'm seen as un-dateable. Maybe I'm just a giant douche and don't know it. lolol

Men are more likely to date woman for their looks - this is why their physical standards are lower. Woman are more likely to date men for their income and strength - this is why their physical standards are higher - men shouldn't rely on their appearance to attract woman - they should rely on their personalities. The guy I dated earlier this year absolutely hated the fact that I thought he was good looking - he said he wanted me to like him for who he was on the inside and not what he looked like on the outside. It's one of the reasons he dumped me.

I did a lot before we started dating but once we started dating he told me his secrets and I realized he wasn't the amazing person I thought he was. He wasn't terrible so I stuck around but he didn't add too much value to my life - had a lot of flaws.

Hot is really attractive. It makes sense that there are many requirements to it.

Otherwise, you're just cute or good looking. Not hot.

Okay, so you are cool with a balding woman (very common trait)? Big, bushy eyebrows are okay? Define comically ugly clearly and decisively (and see how quick it adds up to the general appearance specs individually laid out on the womans side).

Here is a better idea. Have someone you know point out a woman they feel is your physical match. That should be your base line standard.
