I grew up where u don’t show love with hugs or words. If my dad wanted to show affection, he bought me something. So that’s how I am in my relationship. I do hug and say I love u, but gifts are needed.
Although an engagement ring is a grey area. If you made false promises to get the engagement you shouldn’t get the ring back. Otoh if she broke off the engagement & you did nothing wrong she owes it back.
no sense you dint get martied most people just ask each other for there gifts back so that way you both get the things you paid for back even pets an furniture
The only thing I would ever ask back for would be an engagement ring. But that would only be if she called it off. Other than that I would never even think of asking for a gift back.
I wouldn't ask for it back cause that gift is now impure for me. It's poisonous cause it belongs to her and having it back in my life will only bring me bad luck.
I would feel cheap myself, if I asked back what I gave away. I'd 'cut my losses' and move on.

I don't know if it's wrong or not. I understand why you want it back, but once you give a gift, there's a chance you won't get it back. If I was a mom, I'd tell my son to save the really expensive gifts for the woman he marries.
If you give a gift it becomes that person's property and they have no obligation to give it back. The only exception would be like a family heirloom like your grandmother's necklace or ring.

If my partner bought me expensive gifts, I wouldn’t leave.

I grew up dirt poor, where my parents said love you every day and we had lots of family events. So when people get me stuff it is super awkward.
yes, gifts aren't yours once you gift them.. that's how gifts work..
Yeah, it’s wrong. But that’s why you should never give a gift that you can’t easily afford. Ever.

Yes it is wrong. The court of law would not legally allowed you to take it back.
Unfortunately, yes. Never should’ve bought my ex that $500 watch. Oh well...
Yeah its wrong. A gift is a gift. Once you give it away it is no longer yours. You should never give a gift that you want to get back at some point.

Which you wouldn't give away until you sealed the deal with them. That would be foolish.
People are foolish, people make stupid mistakes like that
Yes. They are gifts. Never give what you're not prepared to lose
Your not going to get it back, that was your choice.
Grow up
No. They can keep it. Many of my old girlfriends went away for college and careers. So it's ain't a big deal.
You could try, but personally I wouldn't even consider it, just drop and move on, but then I'm not one to buy expensive gifts.
Yes it is really bad behavior. If you give a person a gift, it´s theirs, even if you change your mind later on.
Just so it can remind me of a broken relationship/heart?
I'll cut my losses right there.
Yeah it's very poor taste
I'd already basically finished with my ex when I gave her the gold necklace I bought her
No I want them to keep it so when your not their they look at their reminded it was you who bought and person they date after you is 1.
