What are good cheap date ideas?

I've came up with a idea to solve the issue of me and my boyfriend never doing anything besides sitting in bed watching Netflixs finally.

I've found a little tin box and coloured coded date ideas such as *stuff to do at home *free things to do *places to eat *things to do under £40 (split between us) and *things to do over £40. I've also made a swear jar so whenever one of us swears we have to put change of any amount in the jar to fund us doing something fun together at the end of the year.

I've included ideas like baking/cooking together, playing a board game, going for a walk, going fishing, going to the movies, DIY projects etc.

Keep in mind I live in England the weather is pretty crap this time of year which is why its so difficult to find things to do for cheap. It's not like we can have picnics in the park or go to the beach. It's even more crap as there's not much to do in my town besides get drunk, we don't have anything fun or interesting to do or see. Also we are saving for a house together but can not get a mortgage till my boyfriend has three years worth of his business books so we both still live with are familys and we don't want to get in there way either. That's why I'm trying my best to be as creative as possible.

Drive, as far away from any city as you can get in one day, Look at the stars in total darkness and see what comes to mind. Thoughts can get pretty romantic that way. Valleys and canyons work great for this. Your part of the world likely has more of the former. Then camp out in the car, make a weekend of it.

Cook together, at a friends house or cheap motel so long as it has a kitchenette. Try new recipes, food from different cultures. Mexican one day, pralines and gumbo another. You can pay your friend in leftovers, or bring them back to your family. Does your area have local music? I'm unsure what kind of folk music you have in the old world, but you might look into it.

Do you ice fish in the old world? I'm unsure what part of England you live in, but some places surely get cold enough to drive on the ice. Look it up first.

In rural parts of America "car/truck dates" are common enough. Drive around, try and count how many deer you see. Learn to spot animals out in the bush. Mostly small game out on the island, but still. Same thing applies to any overlook.

Learn to play instruments together. Banjos and psaltery. Harmonicas and a mandolin. Anything you can get second-hand. Grow indoor flowers and learn to arrange them. Learn anything together. A language, a dance.

It sounds like you live in a small town, near any countryside? I don't know about the public land situation over there, but snowshoeing is something people are into. Thank you northern tribes!

Pick up dances of various cultures, and perfect them. Latin dances can be very romantic. Samba, salsa, flamingo, you get the idea.

Martial arts tricks!! Get so good you can kick the top off a bottle. Do stylish kicks, butterfly, crescent. Get flexible enough for a vertical kick. Use muay thai to cut stuff.

SOLUTION: A MONOPOLY GAME
yes a Monopoly game. There are countless themes of Monopoly boards from a Las Vegas edition to a Game of Thrones and James Bond edition.
The rules are the same which can get boring so infuse your own rules. My girlfriend and I when we play Monopoly ( the Disneyland version) at her parents house we add a few rules.
Ok landing on free parking you collect the pot of money AND other players have to do a shot. If YOU GO TO JAIL, everyone must must switch seats. Any cussing costs a $100. Just a few tips
SCRABBLE and TRIVIAL PURSUIT are other favorites

I'm also in England, carveries are a cheap meal out, down here in Sussex there are lots of offers also, my local does two mains for £8.99 eg,,,

Harvester are currently advertising for mystery customers, ie you eat for free, libraries often have free book clubs (ask to speak with the community librarian - it's a specific job role) or maybe do voluntary work , like litter picking (it's much more fun than it sounds!) or be a guide at your hospital,,,

There are also meditation sessions at Buddhist centres (if they not free of charge they aren't genuine mindfulness sessions btw),,,

Go to the dog park.
Go climb a tree somewhere.
Take an exercise class together... or boxing or martial arts... or dancing.

Start a dating club so you can do match making.

I loooove these ideas... even before you mentioned my post. The animal shelter idea would be soooo nice. Animals and a handsome date. That's the way to go.

@SydneySentinel Thanks so much SydneyS! I think keeping things fresh, new challenges, being open minded are very important... should start out that way and takes pressures off a bit.. I met a gal at the dog park and had a good conversation. Not dating, just a good way to socialize and connect.

Imagination Date: Play-Doh, Crayons, Color paper, glue, noodles, Legos, Lincoln Logs, markers, safety scissors, etc.

Anything and everything you can remember doing as a kid in preschool or kindergarten. Then compete over who has the better imagination. Or who can cover the fridge first in art work. Either way it's good cheap fun.

There are actually quite a lot of interesting board games these days if you both enjoy them. Try out GloomHaven or other similar ones. That should give you something to do for a long time.
Or try playing Dungeons & Dragons online. There are groups to join for free on Roll20. net

We're not really the d&d type more snakes and laddles or operation 😅 but thanks for the suggestion. It's strange though because most my friends are mad on d&d and war hammer stuff but me and my boyfriend have no idea what they are talking about
