Does being attracted to someone based off of the first impression of their looks, cause a lot of us to be catfished?

Like you see a handsome guy or pretty girl from their side view or from a distance or on social media. Then you begin interacting with them. Up close and personal and realize they have on makeup or they just used nice picture editing and now you don’t find them as attractive. What do you do now? Lol
