When a guy asks you out and then cancels it dues to family emergency, is it legit?

Me and this guy met a week ago online. We’ve been getting along super well. We flirt a lot and he even called me once and kept showing interest, showering me with compliments. He kept mentioning he’d like to see me but without ever making plans. I just felt it was too good to be true. So I decided to ask him if he ever had intentions of meeting me and if he was leading me on to just be honest. He acted surprised and said wasn’t leading me on and invited me out straight away. On the same day, a couple of hours after he’s seen my text asking for details for the meeting, he texts me saying he’s sorry but there was a family emergency that he’d call me later. It’s been almost 2 days and I still haven’t heard from him. Should I text him and be like - Hey! Just checking to see how you’re doing, is everything alright?

Every guy is a guy to ghost, even nice guys! But cause I asked for honesty and he said he wasn’t leading me on maybe something did happen. Also, I know he was in a relationship for 2 years, meaning he’s boyfriend material. He’s a classical music pianist so maybe he’s just shy. The other thing is he keeps checking my IG stories without getting in touch - confusing so I don't know 😐
