Why do guys come one strong then back off?

Know this guy for two weeks and saw him 4 times the first week. Then he found out I saw someone before we met and the guy told him we were still seeing each other. I don’t even know where I stand with it this guy. He could be seeing someone else. The week after I only saw him once and he’s not messaging me as much. I ask what does he want from me and he just kinda smiled and looked away and said I don’t know. What’s going on with him?

Maybe he believes that you're seeing that other guy still and he's not interested in competing for you.

So how do I make him understand that I’m only interested in him? I send him text and he replies right away but won’t initiate anymore. I’ve asked to see him. He just replies he’s busy and in a funk.

Other than telling him that you are only interested in him I'm not really sure. Just be honest with him, if you were seeing somebody else while you were seeing him, tell him it was true and that you realized it was a mistake. You only want him
