Fuck tipping. Anyone who needs to literally buy their way into being respected, is pathetic. I'm so glad I no longer have to deal with that BS tipping culture from the US. Back home, I never even hate out at restaurants because I hated being socially obligated to give lazy assholes money for doing he bare, BARE minimum of their jobs. I don't tip my doctor or lawyer, why the FUCK would I tip someone for bring me food or paying attention to me once every 15 minutes inbetween being on Twitter in the corner.
Seriously, FUCK tip culture! I HATE that shit!011 Reply- +1 y
And to add it in (after reading your comments), as I said, I didn't eat out at restaurants altogether, because I'd rather avoid it than having to be socially pressured into giving somebody my hard-earned money for literally no valid reason. So I can't be called much of a "bad tipper" when I refuse to participate at all.
The few times I DID have to eat out (with family, friends pre-wedding dinner, work, etc), my general rule was "round up to the closest five." If the dinner was $27, I'd leave $30. If it was $36, I'd leave $40. If it was $49, I'd leave $50. That's it. I'm not giving somebody all my money because the US has a shitty restaurant system and we're told we have to do the managers' jobs for them. - +1 y
Those people actually don’t get minimum wage as it is expected they will get tips. They are legally paid about $2.60 an hour and the rest is tips. Today though the wait staff have to share their tips with the dishwasher, busboy and others. If you aren’t tipping you are taking a service for free. The issue is it’s optional based on service level. African Americans are known for bad tipping. Some wait staff don’t want to serve them and they get accused of racism when it is just their own years of experience that tell them someone will leave a few dollars on a large bill, like rounding up to the nearest five. DonAfrican Americans not understand this or do they take advantage of it being optional? (FYI, I will be going out now, be back later).

What do you mean lazy? Do you have any idea how much work goes into working at a restaurant? It's not easy at all, and I bet the laziest person at my place could outwork you at anything.
It's always people who never worked for real who have such disrespect for people who actually have to do something physical to survive. And by the way. The prices of the food are literally cut to partially account for tips.
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Literally, tipping that low would cost most servers money, like they would literally be losing money.
A server is more of a leasee then an employee because in order for them to take tables, they need to pay the dishwasher to lose braincells touching your disgusting plate, you gotta pay the door waman to lose brain cells talking to you before they sit your stupid ass at the table he just paid the busser to clear off and leave immaculate for you. And you eat the food with the silverware that was hand polished and rolled by the same person you just gave $2 to in exchange for 40 minutes of their time you took up as you wasted space at a table which could have been making them money. What you're talking about is basically petty theft. Just because you didn't tip doesn't mean that guy doesn't tip and some restaurants go as high as 15% of total SALES it's not based on how much in tips they get, you might be surprised to know that. So the next time you get dragged to go out, just know that if you got someone who did everything right, the least you can do is give the poor asshole his 15% so they can at least break even.
And the difference between a doctor and a server is that you can sue the doctor for not doing a good job. Like holy shit what a stupid comparison. - +1 y
That's not our responsibility, and I don't see how contributing to a broken system is supposed to fix anything. That logic makes no sense. Everyone else in the world gets paid a fair wage in restaurants, and yet you want to blame customers as being the issue because they don't like doing the managers jobs for them?
Furthermore, the few times I have been at restaurants (in the US) because I had to, the wait staff usually do a shitty job, because they know they're going to be tipped either way. TIPS are supposed to stand for "To insure prompt service." Yet in the US, people are pressured into giving even the laziest most disgruntled employees "ONLY 18% for a job less than stellar." Shit, if I had a job where I would get paid regardless of actual performance, I wouldn't care either.
Dining out is far superior here in South Korea. And the wait staff actually give a damn too, because the managers are actually held accountable, unlike the bullshit US tipping culture where no one is held "accountable" but the customer. And again, it's not my job to give people money for stupid bullshit like bringing me food (which I can do myself), which is why even here, I still rarely go out to eat. It's such massive entitlement to think a customer has to kiss the wait's staff asses, instead of literally any other service-based profession.
And most "African Americans are known for bad tipping" because we're also the poorest ethnicity in America, but no one ever cares about that. Again, fuck tipping. If people feel so entitled to "30% minimum," the restaurant can just go out of business then, and I couldn't give any less of a baby mouse shit if and when that happens. - +1 y
So... so , you rationalize it by saying that it is a bad system and you will take the service and leave them with $2.60 an hour because... your principled? Lol, because... you’re altruistic? Hehe. Too funny.
Nah, you’re selfish. End of story, you are selfish. I bet it is throughout your life too... it must be. $1 on a $49 bill... wow. - +1 y
"you rationalize it by saying that it is a bad system and you will take the service and leave them with $2.60 an hour"
I said I avoid going out to eat as much as possible because I hate obligated tipping, altogether. But you chose to ignore that part. If I was regularly dining out and leaving no tips at all, your righteous indignation would be more warranted than someone who thinks mandatory tipping in general is complete bullshit. It's literally supposed to be optional, not strong-armed by society.
I also said it's part of a bullshit system and trying to be assholes to people instead of fixing the broken system of just giving restaurant workers a fair wage is the bigger issue. I seriously hate it when people have their priorities out of wack. You'd rather gamble on a random tip than just be able to get paid $15 an hour, and then call the people who don't want to give someone a shitton of money for something literally anyone with legs and arms can do.
If I'm selfish (which I'm not, cause I said I don't dine out altogether), then you're lazy and entitled. - +1 y
I was okay with what you said... but then an unfounded claim of lazy and entitled? I have been working since age 12 as a gopher at a construction site carrying 2x4s, laying in cement into basements and walking across 2x12s to lay in second floor flooring. You don’t know anything about me and you through out nonsense. I strongly suspect you were not working at a construction site at age 12 followed by dishwasher, janitor and other jobs. Pffft, lazy and entitled... you are well off the mark. I have made good since then, I have never worked restaurants other than as a stint as a dishwasher at a bar I was not old enough to drink in even when the age was 18. No tips for me, ever. But I’m loaded now 😀. A lifetime of hard work, smart investing and sacrifices. I hold no ill will against them other than they likely vote Democrat, heh.

>>> "Nah, you’re selfish. End of story, you are selfish. I bet it is throughout your life too"
Don't throw bullshit, unfounded insults my way and then expect to come off the bigger man. I don't appreciate it. If you had just left it as "we'll agree to disagree" instead of giving me that moral high-horse bullshit, I'd have mutually ended the conversation there. With most other people, I'd have blocked you by now because who has time to put up with this shit from internet strangers?
And yes I've actually worked at a seafood restaurant before when I was 20 as a dishwasher and it was called The Bayou. It's irrelevant to my point however, as it still doesn't defeat or discredit everything I said about workers being entitled as fuck to other people's money for a job that requires literally no skills because their managers are dicking them over, nor does it discredit or counter my argument of your priorities being messed up and how you should be arguing for a better wage for workers instead of leaning in to a fucked up system and then blackmailing and blaming everyday people for not wanting to continue with the bullshit system of being shamed into going broke for people who choose to work a job with no guaranteed wages that requires no skills whatsoever other than being healthy and able to walk (and no, customer service isn't a required job skill for wait staff, as I went over before; most American wait staff are likely disgruntled and rude).
Now I'm willing to end it here, unless you insult me again by accusing me of being a selfish millionaire causing poor pregnant waitresses to not pay their rent because I didn't give them $50 to bring me a plate of food one time. - +1 y
$1 on $50 bill... that says it all. $2 on $100 I would guess, I have heard stories in here about such a tip. The system may change but they are paid about what minimum wage was in 1980, 40 years ago. I think it is cultural in the black community and is noticed by the wait staff. When they don’t want to provide service as it loses them money since they split x% of the bills as assumed tips with the rest of the restaurant workers, then cries of racism are said. They actually lose money... wow. I am glad you rarely go out but enough who think like you create a messed up situation where someone actually loses money to work for you and doesn’t even get benefits. That’s entitled.

A person like that will turn me the hell off. I can't stand stingy people. One thing if you're struggling financially I can understand a low tip but a meal for $89 you're not struggling. The tip should be at very least $15

I agree with that.

The standard is about 15% gratuity. My minimum is $5. Depending on how service was and i liked the waitress for that price i could go as high as $10 or $15.
11 Reply People are idiots.
On Saturday I tipped a waitress 8 bucks on a 23 dollar breakfast bill. I tossed the high school kid bussing tables 5 bucks. Seeing his smile was worth the 5 bucks.
It was Easter weekend so maybe I was a bit more generous than usual.10 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Dating topic. Never understood tipping culture , i tip if the workers are in bad condition but if i were short on money I wouldn’t tip

Bad tippers are cheap asses, if it's a custom to tip in your country. The tip depends on the service.
10 Reply Man, it's so great living in a country where employers have to pay their employees. Isn't *Australia* such a great nation?

Ahhh, risk adverse. That’s fear and a lack of confidence. Not very attractive to the ladies by the way. I don’t really give a shot about them but at least you can see the impact to them. They, those who live that life, are the ones against it so you, the all knowing liberal though, will help them no matter if it hurts them... because you know better... typical. I don’t care as I said since many of them themselves are liberals looking for benefits while not paying taxes on tips. Fuck em.
- +1 y
Ok. I see, so you response is to say.. a steady life is taken due to fear and cowardice, told me that it's not attractive.. which I guess is kinda trying to insult me but I can't tell? Then said you didn't care, though you started the argument, keep telling me that some waitresses out there on some study taken prefer tips.. and then insulted them. Cool, nice argument, counterpoint, a facebook article title saying "waitresses prefer tips of pay rise" isn't research. Oh--wait you know, I was going to counter you other arguments but they were just you being mad at me and at the waitresses, dang, too bad I can't just.. ask you to be a nicer human huh?
- +1 y
First, the women on here are clear, confidence is number one when it comes to attractiveness. Number 1. A steady life the way you described it, is safe and yet lacks confidence. They can make $60k with tips and less taxes or they can get $15 an hour which is around $30,000 for a full 2,000 hour work year. Now she gets a safe steady income that takes 2 years to make what she could otherwise in 1 year. And all that extra money was important to raise a child alone. But yes, fuck em, she doesn’t pay her fair share of taxes and why should she earn $60,000 with a high school education just to ferry a set of plates out to a table? It’s ridicules but it is what it is. You see, I can separate what I think from understanding what they think and how it benefits them. You can’t seem to do that.
Second, I was clear that I learned about their desire to keep tips on here, not Facebook or elsewhere. I heard right from them. You tend to boo-hoo like a kid. Man up little one. You will need confidence to get pussy so work on it. I was banging 8s, 9s, and 10s at 19-20 years old. I haven’t gone a Valentine’s Day without a woman since I was 12. 13 and up I was always with a girlfriend. Work on it little man. - +1 y
Cool, got it, don't know why this was a big part of the argument to start with, already know confidence is key. Ok nice, you just.. did the maths to the salary, thanks, me being the uneducated loser kid could only wish to do such maths. Um oh right, the salarys, ok, so your point this time (Besides insults) is that I'm bot thinking from the perspective of the waitresses that were polled on this app--first, I'm sure that poll of maybe 60 people at most was a big enough sample size to actually have an understanding of the actual industry as a whole.
Wow, damn man that's crazy. If only I'd known! Please brag more about your sexual endeavors, as me, a boo-hooing kid definitely still a virgin in your eyes cause I didn't vote the same as you, have to learn somehow. u-u
Tldr; Your words dids hurt me, I don't trust the source of a few waitresses on this app, further sarcasm.
Yeah, there could be many reasons for not tipping the normal.
03 ReplyYes, that's a daft reason not to date someone seriously
