This is an honest question and discussion that most women are not clued into. Do you as a woman have any clue what guys are saying to their buddies? Nonetheless, I am going to answer this question in a mature, "non-triggered" manner.

So I'm 35, soon to be 36, and still single. I have been for over 12 years now. Mostly due to bad luck with guys and dating apps in the past, and living in a small town where dating sucks and there's no social scene... when I say no social scene, people's idea of "going out" in my city is going to Walmart! Yeah.

However when I tell people I'm still single, they instantly assume the problem is with ME, rather than looking at other potential factors.
Let's see: a 35 year old female with no kids, no ex drama, no disabilities or mental issues, is athletic and takes care of her body. Geeky, but can hold a conversation. Easy to get along with.

Yet she's single?

Guy logic: something must wrong with her, or she's ugly! 🙄

I'm not saying I'm a 10, but I think I'm "dateable." However, after years of trying and dealing with nonsense, I stopped trying. I'm not damaged. I just realized the older I get, the less tolerance I have for indecisive boys, not men, that don't want me.

Guys- stop being so presumptuous and going by a woman's age. My gosh, I'm 35 but could easily pass for my late 20s; early 30s!
A woman can be 35 and older and still VERY attractive and dateable! Rather than make assumptions, why not talk or get to know her first? Then you can judge why a woman... or anyone really, is single.

the pretty much unanimous result over I don’t know 10 years or so, is not one really cares about the age of a woman.

everyone very much cares about how she is as a person, how she acts, her personality etc.

Not sure how they're considered damaged. If you say it's by looks, well I am not sure that holds true 100% of the time. I am 41 and I still consistently get clocked to be between 25-30.

I think you also need to take into consideration the age of the other person looking. I know guys tend to have fantasies about being with the young college co-ed but the reality is that is most likely not going to happen if they are looking on a dating app already. If it does happen, then that guy is either incredibly handsome or is easy to part with money.

If a guy is legit looking for a relationship and not just a sex buddy then he is only doing himself a disservice by limiting his pool that way.

Before you ask a question as such you should define what damaged goods means to you. I think everyone has a different perception of damaged goods. I dont think the age is an indication of damaged goods I think the age is an indication that her egg count may decrease and she's most likely looking for sm serious. Whether or not she is damaged or just hasn't met her match its something that needs to be explored by the individual. At the end of the day no body in this world is perfect so we are all damaged. I think it depends on the compatibility rather than the weaknesses of a person.

The idea of "damaged" is by far too negative for me to consider. It implies that something is wrong, something is missing. In my experience women, and men for that matter, who are single after any arbitrary age are single for a reason, and often that reason is well thought out, and the result of some choices.
Women who have placed a career as more important than a relationship have every right to do decide that. It is not a sign of damage. Rather, it is stating a choice that is made to fulfil a dream, a hope, or a life plan. I've known women who simply do not place that much value on relationships, and avoid them as being too demanding, burdensome, and often don't fill the need for self-actualization. There are other reasons for single-ness, and I'll leave those for others who have a better grasp on them than do I.

I think the last two years I’ve preferred to date women who are a bit older than me because more likely to be more mature than younger or my age. I don’t think they are damaged in the sense like undesirable or something.

I prefer to evaluate why the person is single at the moment as if after certain age we should just grab any person who is okay and just commit their lives to them immediately. I think it’s a matter of understanding than assumption.

Perhaps she just got out of a relationship, been focusing on her career and personal goals, didn’t have much luck in the dating department, limited by the population, etc. I can go on and on.

There are so many different reasons why women are still single at 35 so to me this is again way too one sided how you state this question. I have been single for a very long time until recently. I never felt like damaged goods because emotionally I felt better staying single and having fun. Some women I know forced themselves into staying in a relationship that while they were clearly not ready for it.

I do notice the typical dudes at the bar talking about me like 'damaged goods'. The only reason they can find for calling me that is always the same: I've been single yet sexually active for more years which means more cocks have been inside me. Good question man and the poll results are a good indicator of what guys really think in my opinion. I myself would date even a 40 year old if she had the traits I like in a girl. Age does affect your appearance quite a bit, but you can still be very attractive. The main thing that draws men to women is ALWAYS their personality. As long as you are average looking, you could still be a 10 in being "desired" for most men if you have a great personality.

Life focuses have changed. There was a time when a females focus was marriage and children. That is no longer the case. Women are seeking careers and financial control of their lives. Monogamy appears to be a thing of the past. How many of us have told our daughters to get an education and a good job before taking a mate.
