It is considered inappropriate social behavior in public by old fashioned standards of social convention in Japanese Society, which is probably why Japanese tourist and exchange students do it so much hear in America, since they don't get to make out in public that much over there in Japan.
It's the forbidden fruit of thier culture, being enjoyed in a place that does not consider it forbidden fruit.

Not exactly bad, but in some places and around some people it's impolite at best and complete bad taste at worst.
But that may be me being too straightlaced - I don't even kiss my wife in public. It desn't suit a civil servant.

No, nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn't get too steamy, that would be uncomfortable... This is me and my Mans making out in front of a whole restaurant, but in Italy nobody cares because it's normal.

Do other people necessarily want to see it, or feel it's appropriate? Also no.

Basically use a little courtesy and sense when making out in public. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, or rather it's the right time and place to do so.

A peck here and there, hugs and holding hands is fine, but I think any more than that should be behind closed doors. It's just more classy. No one wants to see your stuff. That being said, it's not necessarily wrong. It's whatever you're comfortable with. There are no rules to how you want to live your life. I personally don't like pda though.

I'd like to say that I'm an enlightened individual. However, I am a hypocrite. If I see a man and a woman making out in public, I might yell go get a room as a little comedy relief. However, if I see two men making out in public I can't handle that.

I would BY FAR prefer to see folk consensually-engaged in even INTIMATE PDA
than to hear / see couples arguing & fighting. I get vicarious prurient enjoyment

It's rude to do it where everyone could see it, especially kids. I don't think it's appropriate for children to witness a heated make out session. I would not mind, if I'm uncomfortable I could avoid looking at them, but some people could definitely be freaked out.

I'm a romantic so I don't see it as gross or No no.

I actually miss not caring about kissing in public. Having that rush of love in your heart you just want to fall into his lips and stay on cloud nine forever.

When I see couples kiss as long as it's not over the top like they about to get but naked hahaha. It reminds me of my hubby. I blush and smile and feel happy.

It's nice to see that people still have that young love. ❤️

Some people find it to be rude, pda kinda grossed some people out. I think making out could be something that is kept behind closed doors. It also depends on the situation. Just like mindless making out in the middle of a parking lot... no. It depends on how it's done. If it's a "hey look at us we are so in love that we need to kiss right here and now" then yes it's bad. But there are people who are more subtle about it and can pull it off without looking like obnoxious morons

It varies from person to person, but in my opinion, it isn’t appropriate for children to watch that, so it is best to reserve that in private. Like kissing on the lips once in public is fine, but if it’s prolonged, then the public is not the best place to do that.
