Warning signs a woman suffered from sexual abuse as a child?

It is estimated that one in nine girls (about 11%) will suffer from sexual abuse as a child in the US. Sexual abuse can create lifetime emotional wounds that may not heal. How can I identify such abuse early in the dating process?

My deepest sympathy to the victims of sexual abuse. I dated a women... a couple of months into the relationship, she disclosed she was the victim of childhood sexual abuse. My heart went out to her and I loved her more. As I tried to grow our relationship closer, as a defense mechanism, she pulled away felt the need to move to a different state... ending the relationship. She would later joke that she need to stop fleeing when she met a good man.

Tbh you can’t as such.

everyone manages it differently.

Not everyone (male and female) will react the same, some have a lot of masking.

the closet you likely can get is understanding PTSD, Depression.

The ‘problem’ is a physically abused child may also exhibit the same as sexual, basically where parents hit their kids etc.

I dated somebody who was abused as a kid. Her older brother did some pretty weird stuff as well. She was abusive towards me sometimes. I knew why she did this and I would never hit her back. Eventually we stopped seeing each other (her choice).

I don’t think you can really pinpoint any warning signs. I was abused by a family member and no one to this day knows except for the 2 people that I’ve told. Trauma and abuse affects people differently as adults, at least she’s aware of her unhealthy defense mechanism now so she’s one step closer to full recovery
