Looks do NOT matter to me. Everybody has eyes, even children, we can SEE. What your talking about is in the form of lust and I do not agree with that and lust is a sin. Your focus shouldn't be on everybody else that is female. You focus too much on things that won't matter in a relationship. Otherwise, you would have a wife and a person there with you permanently. It is okay to admire who you are with and appreciate their natural beauty. But when you use it as an excuse to decide if you want to love them or not is a complete turn-off for me. Love is from the heart. Not the eyes. And so another reason why I could never find myself dating or being involved with a man other than friendship.
How I view my material possessions is not the same thing as another human being. I cannot speak for other women. Anybody who says was not visual is coming from a place of strict sex, lust, and self-gratification. If women weren't visual, we wouldn't tell the difference between the wrinkles you have on your clothes, or that you wore maroon instead of just red. We wouldn't know where you left your dirty laundry, or that you lied about doing the dishes. We could tell when you shaved, or if you lost weight, we can tell a lot of things about a man. We just tend to not always be vocal about that because most men expect you to be a silent woman.
When it comes down to art it is more than just the outer appearance, it is the meaning behind it. I am a spiritual person, so spiritual people experience the world differently. We see everything. Not just one thing. I have seen many diamonds and jewelry, but not everyone is the same. How I pick something is unless it will hold special meaning and value. I am not one for flashy things, though they can look beautiful from a far. I am a woman more modest in that area. The same with paintings. There is always hidden meaning even if it's not always intended to be so.
When I pick video games, I look less at aesthetics and more at story development, characters, gameplay, the plot, the purpose of the story, and why it needs to be told. Are there learning lessons to be learned from it? What makes that game special? For example. Kingdom Hearts and the Legend of Zelda are two of my top favorite video games. Each has its own story, its own purpose, However, both of them have something in common. They have MEANING. While the KH3 graphic was spectacular, what it failed to do was have proper storytelling, poor rush in the developing stages, and it lacked luster for how it ended, besides no critical mode and then goes ahead to make critical mode almost near impossible to beat. What they did to Kairi was messed up. It wasn't a real war, it was like a conclusion to just Organization XIII and that's it. Melody of memory didn't help either. KH2 sadly will always be the unofficial ending to the KH series. And no amount of graphics was going to fix it. And that was the problem, just like with people, too much physical, nothing substantial on the inside.
Legend of Zelda for some reason always works. Besides its spiritual connection with its original inspiration from Christianity. Loz doesn't need graphics to keep me interested, It has a story. It has real-life characters, it tackles issues without overdoing it. It makes you learn something/ Be it about the characters or the story or just yourself. You learn how to handle different challenges, puzzles, and strategies, all while trying to save the Princess and Hyrule. Each Link is different, and I believe he represents in fiction what a true and real Godly man should look like, looks and personality aside. And there is not a lot of men like that today.
The same it is for movies. I prefer old-school movies from the late 30s all the way to the early 2000s. After the late 2000s and 2010s, everything sunk. The same with cartoons. Either too sexual, too propaganda, all this flashy stuff, but nothing to show for it, and still make you pay more than needed.
For me, it is the same for men. I see men as individual people. No brown-eyed or blue-eyed is the same. If I cannot feel a man's heart and soul and know it is real, no amount of body or physical appearance is going to attract me to that man. He can be attractive and I can overall find him attractive. But make me want him when there is no logical reason to? No. Call me strange. But love matters more to me than just looks. looks fade with time, if you get wrinkles, lose a limb, some teeth, your penis shrinks or scribbles or something, goes balds, gains some weight, gets deathly ill, etc, does that mean I should stop loving a man? Never. So why would I want a man who can easily lose attraction to me in a heartbeat just because I am aging like he is? That is not love. And I would appreciate it if men were honest.
I say it depends on the woman. I have met men who said they don't care about looks, so does that mean those men are lying or they specifically are not as visual as the rest? I don't know. Why people call others as gay or asexual is beyond me and disrespectful to healthy heterosexual people who just want to love and not allow looks always distracting you from having healthy relationships. because if that is true then why do so many attractive people, especially women get dumped on, cheated, or divorced all the time? It makes no sense if they are truly valued for their looks. And I doubt personality or sexual history is always the case. Nobody knows all of this that quickly when we first meet a person. So when a man sees a woman, he already knows he wants her sexually. So again, I think men who act like that need to stop. It became my top 10 reasons why I stopped trusting men on that level.
The argument is not about whats the better opinion, nor is it a claim that everyone cares about looks, its about the number of people who think looks matter in a relationship being roughly equal among both genders, and about the fact that its not a male trait as previously argued by other users.
Secondly, souls aren't real, and people think and feel with their brains, not hearts, and you can have looks matter while also caring about intelligence and compassion.
looks fade with time slower than the mind on average. You are more likely to get dementia long before losing looks to a point of no longer looking like yourself.
Aside from good habits to extend ones life, it's all temporary, and if you care more about the mind than looks, you are making a self defeating mistake.
Why? because looks are a reflection of organ health, and good organ health is how to preserve the mind, if the looks start to go, the mind will follow. and the person will be lost entirely. cease to exist, dead.
Everybody has a soul. Even you. How do you know you don't have a soul? The soul is your conscious. You cannot make a conscious decision without a soul and free will. Plus a lot of things your saying are highly ignorant and lacking in education, especially concerning dementia and other areas.
"The argument is not about whats the better opinion, nor is it a claim that everyone cares about looks, it's about the number of people who think looks matter in a relationship being roughly equal among both genders, and about the fact that it's not a male trait as previously argued by other users." The argument very much matters and neither was I going to talk about what is better. I talked about myself. There are plenty who do, but I do not. I am not caring what other females and women do. I care about how I treat people and that people understand, men especially, no, there are women like me in the world who do care just about love more than your looks. To force any narrative without understanding different people is always unhealthy and ignorant to assume that. The point of your argument won't change anything because again, everybody is different. You can't rely too much on statistics because the numbers will always change.
"Secondly, souls aren't real, and people think and feel with their brains, not hearts, and you can have looks matter while also caring about intelligence and compassion." From what I've encountered no. How we think and feel really does come from the heart. The heart isn't necessarily the one we reconsigned that gives us blood to pump. But even that heart has memories and feelings too. ALL of our cells is giving and biology confirms the spiritual and physical aspect God created us with. We have two hearts. The heart pumps blood and the gut. The Gut is also a heart. And it is the source of all of your feelings and desires as well as your thoughts. Because as the Bible says, all the matters of life troubles included FLOWS from it. And I can ell you as a sensitive person spiritually, it really is true. If you don't know yourself, you can not speak for everyone who does. So unless you're saying you're inhuman, do you have a soul of a human. Unless you came from somewhere and is something else. Then say that, but don't claim humanity. For it is a human desire to connect and the ultimate commandment is love. So no matter what you believe is true about looks, if you don't have love you don't have anything. And that is the about people claiming this visual nonsense. People can see, but not everybody wants to or has to see it. And those beliefs affect if or not a person would impact their attraction towards you. That is why you can get thousands of women looking at you, but none may want to date you.
Actually, we are not talking about organ health because that can fool you also. So unless you a doctor you are making a mistake or assuming good genetics is always looking like a goddess when it's not. What can tell me if your health is your skin, how your eyes look, hair feels, etc. Not whether or not a person is attractive, That is all due to genetics. And no matter how attractive you may look, bad genes are still bad genes. it is how you take care of your body that matters. Not everybody can help with looks. My looks don't dictate my mind. I learn to love myself regardless of my looks. It's other people who don't love themselves enough which is why they tend to do more harm than good. I look 13 at 29. My genetics are very good despite what anyone may assume. And my organs are running normally. So again, what are you talking about? My grandma has dementia and altimeters, she is almost 100 and guess what? Does very well for her age. People are still shocked and she even attracts guys your age. Says a lot.
A genetic capability that determines if you can have children with a person or not is more important than your looks. Having good genes is just as important as having STRONG genetics. This is why it is always good to get a genetic test done also to see what traits and possible diseases you can pass down or develop as you age. Their pricy, but it can help you.
1. No one has a soul, souls are a fictional concept. Conciousness is created from the brain, and when that degrades, you cease to exist. Also, you don't need to be human for that, all animals think (as do plants, and fungi, though to a lesser extent).
2. if souls existed, we would have evidence for them everywhere, because the dead outnumber the living by a number so large it has no name.
3. If souls existed, degenerative brain diseases would have zero effect on a person's ability to think. (you also wouldn't even need a brain), and yet they clearly have a massive effect on that.
4. You don't get to tell ME what MY poll is about, if you want to branch this out to fantasy land or add ancillary topics, make your own poll, keep it out of mine. I don't care about all those extra points, and it's not forcing a narrative to have people vote on whether or not looks are important to them, which, so far, for most of the votes, it is, which was expected.
5. Not all men are the same, so saying "especially men" is pointless. The same is true for women.
6. Since the mind and body are the same thing, if you let health go and looks degrade, the mind will also start to degrade, until its not the same person anymore, and because of this, if you don't care about looks, you don't care about their health, so you don't actually love them. You just think you do because you think souls exist.
7. I'm not trying to change anything, you cannot change people. I'm simply proving a point that people who say women aren't visual, or are less visual than men, are wrong, and that women who care about looks are so common that even my limited view post is finding them in a short timeframe.
8. I don't care what you claim to have encountered, The only input I asked for was a vote of yes or no.
9. Humans don't have more than 1 heart, and it we don't use them to think, hold memories, or experience feelings, that is the brain's job, no, that is what the brain IS.
10. Spirits and gods do not exist, nor does heaven or hell by the way.
11. The gut is how you digest food and water, it's not a second heart unless you count blood vessels, but those are in almost the entire body, and also aren't where we think, remember, or feel emotions from.
12. I don't care what the bible says, it sucked, it had continuity errors and the writing was bad, and no one can agree on a canon for it, if I am going to read fiction, it needs to be well written and exciting (I recommend the hobbit and lord of the rings trilogy, or the harry potter books, way better than the bible imho)
13. Telling me I don't know myself because I don't buy into bullshit is stupid.
14. You have no clue what love is, nor are love and caring about looks mutually exclusive from eachother. Most people care anout looks, and still love their SO.
15. I don't have anywhere near thousands of women looking at me, I'm mostly a homebody and I don't go out much, and I still have no problems attracting women, so much so, that I can afford to be very picky, but this poll has squat to do with that, so stay on topic.
16. Bad genes are genes that inhibit survival, not sexual selection, so getting genetic testing done for a relationship is pointless unless you are worried about you or your offspring inheriting a genetic disease. Gene mutations deviating from the norm are how new species evolve, thats not bad, it's good, diversity is good, it helps to ensure that even if an individual dies, life as whole does not. And most people don't have genetic combinations that stop them from preventing or reversing aging.
17. Does your grandma look the same as she did at 20? Because if she had perfect health, that look stays. Humans have indeterminent lifespans, and aging is caused by disease. The majority of each new generation will live longer than the last (short of setbacks like poverty on a mass scale, wars, etc), Simply because the number of things that damage or kill us gets reduced/removed from our daily lives over time.
18. Me, and many other men and women don't even want kids, so no, reproduction is not more important than looks. Secondly, even if it were, caring about looks evolved for the sake of having more viable offspring, so caring about reproduction should mean focusing on looks even more. I personally don't care about looks to that extent, only to the extent of extending a spouse's lifespan, and following what my body automatically prefers sexually, as is the case for most people who don't want kids.
19. Epegentic changes from external factors play a much larger role in aging than starting genes in most people.
Yes, they do. Whether we like it or not. Perhaps more women are more likely to compromise but we too care about looks. Tastes are different as well so for some certain visuals don't work. For example I do not find the muscular male body attractive at all but that's just me. But I like other traits that definitely do it for me.
Of course looks matter. If i say im not visual, im referring to nudes not doing anything for me like they do for guys. They’d drool over nudes and a lot of us girls would just be like.. meh
I think both sexes are equally visual.
You have to be a bit attracted to someone to actually start getting to know them.
Of course looks matter nobody ever said they didn't however men are far more visual than women
Usually when people say "men are more visual than women" they mean men care more about looks than women.
So what do you mean if not that? because thats the claim I think is a load of bs. I think women are just as visually oriented to looks as men.
Asvertizing is a poor example of gender based preferences because it's based off the seller's assumption, not the buyers opinion.
Actually, Many companies spend millions on advertizing that doesn't work, to the point where I'm almost entirely certain that the vast majority of company CEOs or advertizing agents are dellusional or just straight up insane.
They false advertize, they advertize by adding in things no one asked for, they spend more on advertizing than they make on sales of said product (by a huge margin), they go under, they fire the division from the company, and then repeat the same mistake over and over again lol.
In most cases, products seem to be intentionally designed to put off or irritate the customer, as if the goal is to filter out picky people and create a generation of "ill buy anything" types.
Sex sells only applies to porn, or lewd interactive things.
For example, the reason nudity or sex in a video game, tv show, or movie sells, is because someone can fap to it.
When you try to sell some random object, and then tack on hot sales women with their boobs mostly hanging out, it does not increase the liklihood of a guy buying a non sexual product.
Sex only sells itself, and women are just as likely to use porn as men. The issue though is, pretty much no one, men or women, pays for porn, so sex doesn't actually sell that well at all.
So ad mantra? sure, but you could do the same thing towards women and get the same result. Companies simply choose not to because a straight male ceo doesn't wanna see scantily clad men all day, so they omit women as customers.
Most women I've spent any decent amount of time with are just as visually obsessed with dicks as most guys are with boobs.
yeah but those don't increase sales. Also for ads in general, most people tend to block them as amuch as possible. I've got ad blockers on most of my devices.
They absolutely matter to me.
