At that age, I would say yes. You also have to take into consideration what the legal age of consent is in your area, though I'm sure you already have. I just think that there's usually quite a difference in where people are in their lives between 17 and 22, which can make it hard to relate and create issues with compatibility. I've also always personally thought that someone a few years or more out of high school dating someone who is currently still in high school is a bit iffy.

While a 5-year age gap typically isn't an issue with older people, it is often a pretty big difference with younger ones, as a lot usually changes within a span of 5 years in a typical young person's life. The difference is especially big between a teenager still in high school and someone in their 20's who has been out of high school and most likely in the adult world for a few years.

She is 17 years old. WHY at 22 are you looking at a 17-year-old who is still a minor and still in high school? There are plenty of women your age and 18 and over you can date. Leave teenagers and girls still at their parent's home ALONE. In that situation, it is not about the age gap. You're an adult, she is still a minor. If her parents especially do not agree, and if she especially does not agree, leave her alone. What your doing is why so many parents are wary about their daughters dating. All your caring about is sex.

I dated a 17 year old when I was 22. I went into the relationship knowing I would not be having sex. I was okay with that. The age difference was never an issue. The issue was that I was going to college and she was still in high school.

Not necessarily, if she's a really mature 17. That would put her emotional age at about 19, and a 22 yr old guy is about a 20 yr old emotionally. LOL In 5 more years, it won't matter at all. :-D
