Girls, if I asked out a girl and she says she is busy at the moment but will let me know when she is free, does it still mean she isn't interested?

I asked out a girl to celebrate an event (and quite sure I made it obvious its a date) and she said she is busy at the moment but will let me know when she is free next. I'm worried that this is actually an excuse and she said it hoping I'll just forget about it.

If I think a guy likes me and I’m not sure I like him, I will say that as my way of postponing a decision about dating him. I do it as a quiet form of disengagement without losing him because he might have potential if he continues to show interest.

I’ve been pretty obvious that I’m interested in her. But I guess her thinking about it is better than a complete rejection with her saying she is busy overall.
