Would you continue seeing someone you weren’t interested in just for the company?

Would you ever say yes to a 4th date if you weren’t interested? As in just for the company or just to be nice? I’d say the 4th date is a little too far along for that, but any other opinions?

I’ve done that before and I can tell you that short term pleasure will not make up for the a true connection that you’re longing for. I didn’t feel bad at all because I was aware he was a older guy with baggage and thought he can control my every move. It was phone in the moment but it took me 2 years to heal because I had issues internally that I had to work on. You’re better off valuing your time by not wasting it on someone you know you’re not interested in.


It feels good now but over time it gets worn out. Time goes on and you’re fantasizing what would it be like to actually spend this moment with someone you’re genuinely interested in.

I did this and the guy still thought he had a chance but I just saw him as good company and a friend. Now I know to just let it go if there are no romantic feelings if a man starts off being attracted to you. I also met this one guy online we talked for months about all kinds of stuff. I never was feeling him romantically eventually after a month and 1/2 he just blurted out I just want to have sex lol…Next never spoke or heard from him again.

Tough one. Feelings can grow over time, they can also be destroyed over times. a lot of times people are not interested for all the wrong reasons as well. So yes, no reason to hang around and take things slow. Asong as no one is getting hurt. You might find a new appreciation for the person.

Never go out with someone "to be nice". That's not at all nice. By accepting a date, you are indicating that there is some possibility of a sexual relationship. If you have no interest in a sexual relationship, you need to tell the other person before accepting another date.

I would/have but you have to be very clear with expectations. If it's a guy, they typically don't get it. They'll hook up with you, say it doesn't mean anything, and then quickly either catch feels or turn mean when you decide to go platonic.

More often than not it ends messy. It can be done if both parties are mature and both have had some other luck in the dating world.

No, not very kind to string someone along. You can be honest and tell them you like hanging out with them but see it more as a friendship. They probably won't want to continue hanging out, but small chance they will. I wouldn't continue seeing them without being straight up about my intentions though.

I have continued to hang out with guys after a few dates, I say I like you as a friend, lets keep hanging out but not interested in you romantically. This way I still get out, get some company and can have fun and make new friends.

Only as long as you both discuss and agree nothing will come of it. It's not fair to them to keep seeing them if your intentions aren't the same.

After 3 dates if I had no romantic interest I would tell her. If she wants to hang as friends after that then that’s ok

I did that once. I wanted to give her a chance because I wanted a relationship and I hoped I would develop feelings for her. It wasn't fair to her and I'll never do it again.
