Though it seems that evolution would draw highly attracted people together, why does high attraction often create shyness and insecurity?
I'd think that evolution would draw highly attracted people together, but it often results in high levels of insecurity and self-doubt. And when there's really high attraction and sexual tension, it's pretty much always mutual, so the self-doubt doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

High attraction draws people together, but it often causes problems: it often makes people idealize the other and gives one self-doubt. And even if the person attractive and intelligent, it often doesn't prevent them from feeling insecure. Why does high attraction often create problems, when one would think it would be easy?
