Why is it the people that went to uni are holding off marriage for later than the people that went straight to work after highschool?

I'm 25, taken (not married) and doing my masters in business administration. I have no plans of being married just yet. And frankly wouldn't plan on kids till I'm 30. There's literally no benefit to either just yet. Not to say I wouldn't say yes if my boyfriend proposed, but certainly not rushing to it yet

at least you have somebody tho I feel I'm a bit behind I never really clicked with the guys at uni in a romantic sense and I also moved to Toronto for 3 years so I have jumped around a lot

They were pushed by their parents and teachers to value education, status and money above all else. Unfortunately, the longer they wait to start the process of finding a partner, dating, living together, marriage, having babies, the less time and options they will have. Society wants people to believe that they can do it all. In reality life goes quickly, so make sure you're doing the things that matter before you miss the opportunity.

Well if I don't find anyone at 29 i know it was my fault being too independent travelling and working abroad lol

Well, we all make our choices and live with it.
I was one of the people who met someone at 21, moved in together immediately, lived together for 6 years while we both worked normal jobs just down the street from each other. We were married by 26, had a baby by 27 and divorced by 36. 15 years together total.
I 'm happy I did those things early on because frankly everything was easier in my 20's.
It was easier to meet women at parties, I was younger and full of optimism and ambition. Raising a baby was easier in my 20's as well. However, I didn't go to university, I don't have a lot of money or financial security, I didn't sleep around with a bunch of different people either.
I still wouldn't go back and change anything though. Money, traveling and casual sex you can still do in your 30's and 40's if you want. Finding someone to marry, raising babies and all that seems to be more challenging the longer people wait. Not to mention you have less time with your kids, the older you have them. I never understood the concept of waiting to have kids, then being old, dying and missing out on their lives.
At 29 you're still at a point where you could get started on your family if you really want to, but it's gonna take some luck.

Because they are focused on their future and want to finish their degree and work a bit before having children. Post-uni marriages are also more likely to be successful.

Easy.. marriage signifies settling down, which includes having kids... if both parties are pursuing education, a full fledged relationship will inadvertently impact studies and future potential
