How do I become girlfriend material?

I don’t get how some girls make it to girlfriend. All my communication with guys has always been something like placeholder and backup plan. I get told I’m very gorgeous and beautiful but still find myself in low positions like that. I try my best to not put myself there but still end up there. The guy I’ve been seeing for almost 6 months I thought saw me as a girlfriend until we were having a deep conversations about exes. I told him how he is one of longest guys I’ve ever talked to and guys usually get bored of me within two months. He told me I wasn’t a boring person but I come off as a casual person or temporary fun. The whole time I thought someone had finally liked me. He’s been treating me like a back burner lately and only hitting me up likely when he’s bored.

Do you ask them when you meet them what they are looking for? That's what's important. It's not you, it's them and what they want. Yes sometimes guys can lie (especially young ones), but often if you ask DIRECTLY, and EARLY, you are making it clear what YOUR expectations are, and guys generally aren't going to waste their time either. Myself, every single woman I've ever met that I've found attractive is "girlfriend material" if I'm looking for that to begin with (ie there's no such thing to me as "girlfriend material". You're a woman, then you're girlfriend material lol).

Don’t let yourself be a backup for anyone. Let the guys you are with know that if you are not their top priority than you are not going to be able to keep seeing them. I think you need to make your intentions more clear. I have had the opposite, where I’ve had a guys tell me that I’m wife material and then they move on because they don’t want a wife, they want temporary fun. This was mostly younger guys though.

1st, stop waiting for others to validate your existance. dont make yourself overly available. instead, have times that instead of agreeing to do something together, go out and do something on your own and refuse to let him come with you. this shows you have imdividual intrests and not just stuff he likes or stuff you always want him with you to do. also have him go do stuff without you. shows some trust and allows freefom outside of the "we".

2nd, try to have that same type of convetsation before it becomes a full relationship. with your 6 month in guy, depending on quality of convos and quantity of those comvos, i would suggest between 3 weeks into things and 2 months tops.

I don't know if it's you or not, but one of the surest ways to be disregarded as girlfriend material is to be promiscuous. Girls who have sex are good fun for lots of young guys, but not thought of as a good girlfriend.
