How to deal with an overbearing mom who doesn’t like your date?

My mom is very strict with my dating life not that I date a lot anyways. Recently I told her about a guy I was friends/dating and she didn’t like him because he’s a waiter and doesn’t have a high socioeconomic status. She is also very invasive about sex and persistently told me not to meet with him indoors. I told her that while I understand her opinions if I like someone I won’t need her permission to go out with him or do anything further. She won’t back off though saying we will discuss this in a few months. Wtf?

If you are over 18, she does not really have a say, she can advise, suggest but that’s it, after that she needs to keep herself out of your life unless there is a very clear danger, such as a guy is controlling, a psycho etc

Yes but I’m financially still dependent on my parents and if I need to go on a trip with him I can’t if she doesn’t let me. They won’t give me money to stay at places.

Well, you need to have words with your mum about being controlling and living her life through yours.

I think she may calm down in a few months. She said WE need to get to know him. I think I’ll just save up (I started working) to go on the trip but looks like it ain’t happening soon with her up my ass
