Why is it that some girls prefer older boys, some prefer the same age and some always prefer younger?

I have noticed that I have always liked boys minimum 5-6 years older than me.

Some of my friends always only like boys the same age and have always been with boys within 6-9 months of their age.

and then there are some who always prefer younger boys like 18+ months younger.

My reasons for preferring older boys are probably just that I feel protected and I can’t pinpoint anything else tbf.

I think it has to do with the preference and maturity of a girl. Personally, I always loved older guys (not a huge age gap tho, more like 2 or 3 years older than me). I can't remember liking a guy my age, because most of them were immature and acted like kids while I looked for someone more mature.

To me age doesn’t really matter it just depends on the attraction the chemistry and connection , I have met girls that were a lot younger then me that were more mature than girls my age so I really don’t look at age as a deciding factor if her and I have an awesome connection whether she is older than me or younger , I am 44 years old now and I notice a lot more younger girls are attracted to me , I think it’s cuz the maturity level is what turns them on , most girls want a guy that listens to them and understands them is how I look at it instead of dealing with a guy her age that pretty much just wants to fuck and acts like she doesn’t matter , I might be wrong but from my experiences this is what I have experienced, So again age isn’t really the issue , if I see a beautiful girl that caught my eye and I approach her the last thing I am thinking is how old she is , I am not going to walk up to her and say how old are you lol That would probably be the worst pick up line what so ever lol

I've just always had a thing for same age. Growing up, i mainly focused on guys who were in my class. There would be one guy on occasion who was a grade above or below me but I still preferred same age/grade. In college, I didn't know peoples ages off the bat, so thats when i found myself falling for guys who were up to 3 years older/younger. Outside of college, I have had the occasional older than that but I still prefer same age at the end of the day. Its not even about similar interests because i relate to all. I just care about the persons actual age 🤷‍♀️

I think because I went to an all girls school I had to meet boys outside school and the ones in my year were so horrible and immature so my close friends circle always met older boys and it kind of just stayed that way until now. Now I still talk to boys older than me but not 5-6 years older. It’s more like 6-12 months older.

Because we are all different and have have our own personal preferences, me personally I couldn't date anyone younger than me and would only go ten years older max, whereas my friend prefers younger by about three or four years and my mother friend doesn't have a age limit as long as they have a connection.
