Are men better than women at driving?

In some aspects yes. In others no.
Of all the aspects of driving the two most important are Safety and Perception
It has been shown how the two different brains of men and women are hard wired to perform different tasks. Of course each individual will vary in degree.
Men's brains are better at perceiving motion and depth. This is the ability to understand how the cars are moving, the space and speed needed and to flow with traffic as a unit. This should make men safer and better drivers.
Men tend to keep their senses with better reaction when things go sideways which can help to avoid a potential accident.
HOWEVER
Safety is also a key factor. Women's brains are shown to be less aggressive. A trait that can lead to competition and road rage, all of which is counter productive to safety. Men also tend to think they are invincible. Women are more empathetic.
But gender is not the only factor in either of these matters. EXPERIENCE plays a critical role. Men drive far more and much farther then women do on average. Giving them much more experience. And distractions play another major roll. Men are more single minded and multi task far less then women tend to.
The number of accidents per gender is not necessarily based on who is a better driver. Statistically the more you are in the road the more likely you will experience an accident. Things just go wrong.
Driving requires a multitude of skills that both genders have. A good combination of both and experience to develop instinctive good habits will take the gender out of the equation.
Men tend to take risky behavior... ie street race, drink and drive, high speeds 100+mph...
Women tend to have poor spacial awareness meaning they dont intuitively know where the bounds of the vehicle are the same way men do.
So what happens, as a cohort, men get in a few but terrible wrecks and women get in tons of fender benders. The rate is huge though. Its like 80% of claims or something similar are women causing minor accidents.
So does 8 intersections and parking lot accidents equal 1 street racer hitting a tree and 1 drunk hitting another car? Well the minor ones do have injuries too like backing into a pedestrian at the grocery store.
Its grey area. But where it becomes clear is with older men. They do not do the risky behavior any more than women do but still retain proper coordination with their vehicle. They have the least accidents where women improve slightly but are destined to be bad drivers forever.
So a man who is coordinated to the average level of a man who does not do risky behaviors is the ideal average driver better than the average woman. Usually a man in his 30 and up. And insurance rates mirror this phenomenon.
I've driven since the age of 17. That was 21 years ago from 2001. I think my driving skills are pretty good. But I also don't have experience being a rally car driver and no body is perfect. I think it depends on how much driving experience the person has but still. I think health and age (and even stress levels) definitely play a big role in whether or not a person gets into an accident or not. I feel that in recent decades though, the DMV has loosed in who gets their license and who doesn't! I still think teenagers need to be real careful with their driving. I am glad that their insurance is higher than those who are seasoned like me. I wouldn't have minded paying higher insurance to be able to get the priviledge of driving at that age anyway.
I think outside of personality differences, men on average have better spacial awareness of their vehicles movement (and ability to adapt when changing vehicles). Most women I know hate going from a sedan to a pick up truck and back again, they have one size car they like and stick with it, especially when renting a car elsewhere.
Women on average are much more careful drivers because they are less likely to 'drive for the thrill' or equate passing others as a metric for speed (regardless of actual mph). Women are more likely to follow 'safety rules of thumb', and less likely to 'rely on their own driving reflexes' like men. Its empiracle what happens when you're tailgating someone at highway speed and they crunch the brakes.

I don’t think so 🤣. I’ve seen both genders suck at driving! 🤣
It greatly depends on the person and not gender, however spatial awareness gives men an edge in things.
as a whole guys tend to be more in to cars and driving, however some are not and you can tell with their driving.
Insurance and experience does show under 25 guys to be a large risk group, a lot to do with risk taking backed up by zero experience.
I know a lot of girls who are better drivers than me, they will 99% get you there without scaring shit out of you and you will feel relaxed.
my ex wife holds her motorsport licences for racing and also instructs. We have tried various tracks using her car, my car, a track car, she wins 90% of the time.
Spatial awareness plays a big part in driving, men have better spatial awareness in some areas, others women do to a degree.
the majority of users on a car forum are men, however you do get women on them.
the car group I am part of has 12 people who are regular for meet ups, all but 4 are men.
I also avoid people that say they are good drivers, pretty much none of us are, I have some areas where I suck and I know I should not do.
The insurance industry believes women, especially under 25, are less of an insurance risk than guys, hence rates are lower. The price gap closes as women get older, but they still get cheaper rates. I don't think "more of an insurance risk" necessarily equates to "bad driver" since in many areas men drive more than women.
From what I've seen though, I don't think gender has anything to do with it. There's no shortage of good and bad drivers on the road, both among men and women.
Young men cost more to insure because they tend to show off, and thus get into accidents as a result. But the reason why men cost more to insure past 25 is because men drive almost 40% more miles per year on average compared to women, and the more miles you drive, the greater the risk of being involved in an accident, regardless of driving skill.
Have you ever been to a shooting range? It's a little more extreme example, but a very common trend is that most men at the range are at least reasonably competent shooters, while most women practically need their hands held just for their own personal safety. Yet there's a disproportionately large number of women who can shoot competitively. A lot of it really just comes down to passion, and while there's some women who really like to drive and are good drivers, it's generally a male passion/hobby, while most women see driving as nothing more than a means to end (getting somewhere), or in wealthy demographics, the car becomes a statement or accessory and it isn't about actual driving.
The studies show "women more likely to crash into each other than men."

From what I see while driving, women are more likely to be distracted (texting, talking on the phone, putting on makeup) while driving than men. Also, the male brain is better at anticipating things than the female brain. When driving, women tend to see other vehicles where they are now, whereas men tend to see where the other vehicles will be. That negatively affects decision-making. If there's an opening in traffic now, a woman is likely to take it; a man is more likely to recognize that opening will be closed when he gets there and wait for a better opening.
Insurance companies give women lower rates in many states. (In Hawaii, where I live, it’s considered discrimination and illegal to base rates on sex or marital status.)
I’m not sure if the higher accident rate is based on men driving worse or more. And, the gap in accident rates between teenage boys and girls has been closing, mainly because girls have been getting more reckless.
I drove a tow truck for eight years and have been to hundreds of accident scenes. Women seem to do the little stupid things more often. Men seem to save it up and do fewer, but more spectacularly stupid things.
The guy who threw a beer bottle out the window as he approached a road block, and nailed the guardrail with it tops my list.
I’m really good at hitting curbs and center dividers
Females are suicidal Self destructive by Nature best to not Help them They will just do there best to bring you down with them.
Females have been manipulating and Lying and being co dependent on men since the beginning of Time
And when They are told to Grow up and Quit being lazy we are the evil ones for telling the truth and trying to help them become Self reliant individuals
Females that are co dependent are the ones that get all bent out of shape when the man doesn’t do as they command
Co dependent females The ones that Create there own problems then Expect the man to Fix all there problems that they created are the ones That are manipulating the man.
Like for instance She’ll get what she wants from the man for a few days then She will start up a random argument and make Tyrannical Demands of Do as I command And they will scream they’re head off.
Just today Some Lady Was Screaming At me at the store I was at telling me To give her the money in my wallet or else and I’d tell you what I wanted to smack her In the face For acting Stupid to me like she had some Authority to Command me like a dog 🐕
I am no Dog 🐕

They’ve only been doing it since the beginning of a time.
Man’s big triggered by a joke 😎
The joke is that You Know I’m right so you try to play it cool as a way To Keep People from thinking I’m right but it would be different if you went Anonymous you would of never Tried to play it cool if that would of happened because nobody would of known it’s you.
@EarthRealm your paragraphs aren’t proving your point at all champ.
And now your changing the subject which is another Tell tell sign of someone being Deceptive
@EarthRealm oh is it now
@Lyndsielee666 get yo ass off my sink
I will snail trail all over this sink
It depends on how to define "better".
There is no question that women cause and are involved in more accidents. The data proves that conclusively.
But the same data also proves men cause more fatal accidents. That is mostly true when men are younger because they are more aggressive, take more risks. But after about age 30 most mature to a degree that they become safer drivers.
The bottom line is that men are "better" drivers in terms of motor skills and spatial awareness. Men are just better at avoid obstacles and correcting without crashing when something goes wrong.
Women are better at driving cautiously and obeying the rues of the road, so even though they cause significantly more accidents, they tend to be less serious ones, at least in terms of bodily harm and death.
Aw, hell no. I've seen how men drive, and I've observed women too, and I can state quite confidently that men are just absolutely hopeless at it. They speed, take stupid risks, and actually have more accidents according to every single statistic that one can find on the subject.
I've seen many men in modern-day "muscle cars" that couldn't control a bicycle & quite honestly shouldn't be driving anything that doesn't have training wheels on it.
Just as how I've seen many men suffering small dick syndrome with larger trucks or SUVs that drive like cocksucking assholes on the road, raging & being dickwads.
.
And both police & insurance companies would agree - men are shitty drivers. Why else do they automatically have higher rates when young?
I really want to say no but I did just deny and scratch my car on a trolly bay a week ago😬
And just today saw a woman drive over an island at the grocery store lol
Not to mention I’ve crashed my car (as an inexperienced driver)
A girl friend crashed hers months later lol
Men I think are a bit better drivers than women but men also get road rage more and tailgate emote/ drive like an asshole more so…
There are more male drivers than women so we can't get a fair estimate... in my biased opinion, I'd think women are more careful on the road (On average) unless she is super rich bitch (KRAKEN)... let us minus alcohol from the equation, and talk about actual skills? Driving is not math , and not much logic needed, it is a tactile skill... so now decide... lol
Days from Uber showed that male drivers earn more on average than female drivers. One reason odd that they complete more trips because they drove a bit faster. Accident rates are equal per mile driven, so there is some indication that men are better drivers on average. Of course there are good and bad drivers of both sexes.
In my own experience, the men in my life have been better drivers. The women in my life, less so. I hate driving because of other drivers on the road who may be reckless and less likely to follow laws.
But that’s just my own experience, of course.
I have girlfriends who have scared me shitless when they drive, and boyfriends who are just as bad. In my experience it is more individual than gender based.
I have a full car and motorcycle license, I used to be an instructor for a voluntary motorcycle group in my 20's and I raced 100c 2-stroke karts in my teens.
Statistically, women get fewer tickets but i think most people realize that’s just because they have more ways to get out of a ticket. No reason to expect one sex is better or worse than the other, really. Although, in my experience most of the people i know who have totaled multiple cars are women. Purely anecdotal observation though.
Overall for the majority of people, yes that is the case, BUT when men get older is switches because they often lose their attention span and you will see old men drift into other lanes of traffic or leave their turn signal on for half a mile or more.
Over the years I have noticed that the best drivers and the worst drivers more often than not are female. The guys normally stay in the middle. I will say this. Years ago when I was a teenager going into my 20s teenage females generally were safe drivers. Today's teenage females? Let me put it this way! You see one get the hell out of her way. I VERY rarely see a young female driving and NOT be either texting or carrying on an active conversation while driving.
Woman driving:
Man driving:
Men generally drive worse than women. Just think that 70% of accidents are caused by male drivers who underestimate the risks of risky maneuvers. This applies to car traffic. If the traffic of vans is considered, the man / woman risk of having an accident is equal to 2: 1, which becomes 4: 1 for trucks and 8: 1 for motorcycles.
I remember an article that found such risks that advised politicians to incentivize women to do chauffeur / lorry driver jobs in order to cut down on accidents.
