My boyfriend commented on another women's hair and I feel weird about it. Am I in the wrong?

My boyfriend was driving around town with me in the passenger seat and at one point we pass by couple walking down the street. A few seconds later, he comments and says "I don't think red hair looks good on black women (referring to the couple). What do you think of that color on them?"

I thought this was a weird comment and question to ask out of nowhere. Do you think my boyfriend is an asshole for saying this?

The never-ending double standards of women. Always makes me smile. It's only a problem when a man does it. When the woman explores her THOUSANDS of other options with her tinder and her facebook and her instagram and her snapchat and all these other apps elevating her vagina to the most astronomical heights then it's not a problem at all.
