Please be honest and also nice. Something like, "I'm really flattered you asked but I'm not looking for a relationship." You don't owe them a reason, but be kind and straightforward. If they say, "oh, come in, it's just a date" you can respond "no thank you." Again you don't owe a reason.

A kind rejection is easy. “No, but thanks for asking.” The not feeling bad about it is more difficult unless you’re a sociopath. Ell oh ell! Most of us don’t like having our feelings hurt. Those of us with sympathy and/or empathy don’t want to hurt other people’s feelings either. But it’s an unfortunate fact of life.

If I wasn’t interested in someone I’d just say “i’m sorry but you’re not my type” I feel it’s best to be honest as lying won’t get you anywhere, I’ve lied before to not hurt their feelings and it always backfired so I feel to just be open is more effective.

If you think he's good looking, tell him after you tell him no, (you said no because you already have boyfriend, you don't like his personality or other reason etc) the guy won't have his ego damaged if you tell him that.
