there are cases in which you've made a first, BAD mistake in choosing a bad partner to have a children with... for example, marrying with an abusive partner that is going to make your life a living hell

in these cases, to put up with that and keep allowing someone to abuse you and thus, harming your children would be even a worse mistake to keep up... so yes "stay and deal with it" is not always the smartest nor the healthiest thing to do

and this is just an extreme example but it does illustrate the point very well that, sometimes... to go with two mistake one after the other is just not the best thing to do, lol

Well... having kids changes people, and frequently the person you had a kid with is completely different from who they are when you're trying to raise the kid.

As for why new partners avoid dating single parents; the kid becomes an added expense and is often a source of tension with the person's ex.
