Is it okay to go to a dance alone?

I have a Valentine's Formal dance at my university today and was wondering if it is weird to go alone? Since I do not have a date.

You should go and realize you are a "bridesmaid" and there will probably be other single guys there... especially if charity related thing.

And a Valentine's "Marilyn Monroe" red lipstick kiss on cheek of guy, in a conservative formal dress, is an imagination and mystery thriller... take a picture.

That would keep me up for days wondering and probably tearing up in frustration... reliving the cheek feeling. So much better than hanging single at a wine bar... Have some fun with it.

I like dancing, whether with someone or alone.

The other day I heard the Desert Rose and I felt the strong urge to dance, I felt like all the female ancestors I ever had, wanted me to dance.

I stood in front of the mirror and learned belly dancing. I felt so powerful, so happy and so feminine. It was like a show for myself.

I was so in tune with each movement of mine and each body part of mind. Like my waist is created for dancing and so are my hips.

It was a wonderful experience.

To answer your question better, I would rather stay home and dance alone at home.

If outside, I’d rather dance with friends.

I have gone dancing alone many times, nothing wrong with it and you might get hit on and it might be someone you like or most likely not.

I even went to dinner alone last night myself, nothing wrong with it.

I have made several friends from going to things solo.

It's probably okay for YOU to go. Even if women don't think they can dance, they look better doing it and are probably more natural at it than guys. Just be careful if you drink... Get an Uber, maybe walk with friends when you leave, watch yourself (especially if it's off campus), and stay safe.

Me, as a guy, eh. Would I have a right to? Sure. Could I ignore social cues and go if I liked dancing? Sure. Anything officially stopping me? Not really.

But, it's not really my thing, and going alone sounds like fresh hell FOR ME; but I'm a nerdy shy dude, so parties are tough to navigate when alone.

When i was young, it was pretty normal to go to dances without a date. Some people who did that would even leave with a new love interest. I would say ‘Go!’, but maybe it’s different nowadays.

I would definitely go and dance by myself and enjoy it. But considering the way I am I'd also refuse to dance with anyone else. I assume you won't do that so you might find a partner to dance with there.
