+1 yIf u mean just right when pursuit starts, like they ask for a number or flirting. No. As MOST of the replies here show, thats dangerous. Why would they put themselves at risk for someone they just met?
It comes down to expectations. When you meet someone and you've never discussed any expectations, none are set. You may just have a nice talk or a date or 2 and never meet again. That's no reason to divulge real private info. But if you meet and you think, this could be serious. You gotta set the expectations. Why are they looking to date?
Do they want sex? If so you need to figure out how they feel about trans people (assuming you also want sex). Judge the situation and whether u being trans would be a big deal to them. If it is then u either tell them or u leave bc chances are it's only a big deal 4 sex bc they don't respect u. If maybe being trans wouldn't be a big deal to them, but diff parts than they expect would, then same thing if u have those parts. Either tell or leave. Here is more grey tho bc they can totally be cool w trans people & just not want to involve themself w diff parts. So that can be harder to judge if it would be safe to tell or if u gotta just leave.
Besides sex tho, what are they looking 4 long term? Do they want a family? If so better figure out their view on infertility. & u don't have to tell them ur trans here either. U can just say ur infertile if it is a big deal to them. Cuz that's true, at least 4 ur 2 relationship. Or again, u can leave w/out telling them shit.
But around the time you are getting to know about their past more seriously, not just their plans for the future, that's about the time u ought to tell them if u haven't already. Cuz that's natural, and important part of building relationship is knowing each other. & that's part of ur past & helped shape u. 👍 at that point I think it could be morally wrong to keep get close to/learn more about them w/out tell them that kinda significant thing about urself.

No. What's dangerous is wasting someone's time. That's why you tell them right at the beginning. If the other person hasn't invested any time into the relationship, then they have no reason to be mad.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs if you don't know anything about the person, you don't know what will make them mad. Read the other replies. Multiple people have said or joked about being violent just because they're trans, regardless of what they do. And they haven't invested any time yet. Why should a stranger's *potential* use of time matter more than your medical privacy and immediate safety? It's not like people are dating for months before ever discussing a future, are they? It's not like you just chat fluff for weeks and weeks.
- +1 y
@snackthatsmilesback I'm explaining to you basic human psychology, bro. People don't like surprises, ESPECIALLY when it comes to romantic feelings! Always present yourself honestly straight up from the beginning.
- +1 y
Your privacy is not more important than another person's heart. You don't have the right to deceive them just because you're scared.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs ur privacy and safety is absolutely more important than a stranger's feelings. If they fall in love w u on sight, or on 1 date, that's not on u. They fall way too hard for barely knowing u. When u actually know them a little & think they wouldn't fucking assault you even if they don't wanna date anymore, them that's reasonable to expect you to tell them then.
It's not deception to wait until you think it's more likely to be safe to tell them. U wouldn't expect a person to tell on the first date that they're allergic to peanuts if it was common for people to try to make u eat peanuts if they know ur allergic. Ud wait and see first if u even wanna be w them, maybe u don't get along n the dates don't go anywhere. Y tell them then? Just leave. N if u do get along n then u find out they're one of the people who like to do that shit, what should u tell them? Or fucking leave quietly? Rlly? Bro chill. It's not like they going on a date as a different person than they are. They just not telling u there whole life story. - +1 y
@snackthatsmilesback If trans people aren't willing to be honest with potential partners, then they should just stay off of mainstream dating sites. They should have their own dating sites for trans people and those looking to date them.
- +1 y
"It's not like they going on a date as a different person than they are."
That is very much a different person than they are!! SMH! - +1 y
You could easily tell them through text before the date.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs I'm not talking about dating sites I'm talking about irl. Strangers. Meeting. Dates. Idgaf about online shit. And u don't gotta worry if ur transphobic, just say so! Trans people don't wanna date u. They will actively avoid u. Just b honest. Ur wasting their time by pretending to be reasonable when u reason like a pickle. Get over urself. This isn't a problem for u.
- +1 y
@annabananna Again tho, why? You have never even been on 1 date, u could go and find out u aren't even compatible. U could find out they have a gay cousin they think should burn in hell. U could find out they're super great and then text them after the date. Y would it be obligated to tell someone u don't know, something that u don't know how it will matter? Get to know them first that's so basic shit for anything.
My husband has a parent in federal prison for rlly fucked up reasons. He didn't tell me that on the first fucking date, even tho some people absolutely see that as a deal breaker, and he's had people freak out after telling them b4. Bc something about ur past, or ur situation, that is personal and a big deal is not something u owe to tell every person u might, possibly, at some point in the future fuck. It can't be morally obligated to disclose info like that especially about urSELF, until u at least get to know the person a little. Or u are gonna fuck them immediately. Does that not make sense? - +1 y
@annabanana Thank you.
- +1 y
@snackthatsmilesback If they're a stranger, then you don't need to tell them shit. UNLESS you get vibes that they're attracted to you and they start giving you attention and "pursuing" you. Then you DO need to tell them.
(And don't act stupid and naive like you don't know that they're interested.) - +1 y
"u could go and find out u aren't even compatible."
If you're trans, and the other person wouldn't date someone who is trans, then you're ALREADY not compatible! 🤦 - +1 y
"Bc something about ur past, or ur situation, that is personal and a big deal is not something u owe to tell every person u might, possibly, at some point in the future fuck."
If it's a ROMANTIC situation, then something related to their GENDER is a REQUIRED disclosure!! - +1 y
@Jamie05rhs exactly. That's y u find out if they are transphobic. Boom now u know ur not compatible. There's no reason to tell them ur trans when that will make them mad at u, u can just leave. End things. Simples.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs if it's a romantic situation, u know what their gender is? Prolly what u fucking thought it was. Trans men are men, trans women are women. That is their gender. That is what is relevant. They ain't tricking u, nobody even cares enuf about u to try to trick u like that. They being themself n ur the one who wants a peice. So either make it clear ur a potential danger to them so they can gtfo unless they're also transphobic, or u get ur head out of ur ass and take responsibility for ur own feelings. Fuck u think trans people should be responsible for the heart of a rando saying I like ur eyes? That's bullshit n even u know it. If u ask someone out u be the one to say normal stranger shit like hey by the way do u smoke? Cuz that's a deal breaker for me. But w tact. What u can't be subtle? Ur a shit flirt then. That's shit the *pursuer* ask. Cus they think u worth their time, they better make sure. It's THEIR time. It's THEIR heart. Ain't trans ppls job to protect u lazy shits
- +1 y
"Trans men are men. Trans women are women.". LMAO! You are delusional! 🤣
- +1 y
"That's shit the *pursuer* ask.". BRUH... 😂😂😂. No one in their right mind is going to ask someone if they're trans!! 🤦. That's like asking someone if they're pregnant!
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs oh so u understand it's personal? Then shit bro, I don't see y u think they are obligated to tell people they just met 🥺👾
- +1 y
@snackthatsmilesback As I said earlier, they're obligated to tell them IF the other person indicates that they are romantically interested.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs as I said earlier, no. The person showing interest is the one responsible for themself when they wanna pursue interest in other person. If THEY have a problem w trans people. That's on them. They should go out flirting w people assume that everyone in the world is cis n is responsible to protect their precious time and feelings.
- +1 y
Look I think everyone is good to be as honest as they can. This isn't about whether it's a good idea to say asap personal shit or not. I just don't see how u can think it's morally required for the trans person to out themself to strangers just bc the stranger thinks their cute n wants to have dinner sometime.
- +1 y
I'm trying to help you understand, but I don't seem to be getting through to you, man. Maybe I should just let this issue rest and agree to disagree.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs shit maybe. I don't see what's not making sense tho. But ig that means it's still not gonna no matter how either of us explain it seems like..

+1 yI don’t think that this is a question that is limited only to the trans community. No one should date someone else under false pretenses. You can’t conceal or alter your demographic information in order to get a date with someone.
Nor can you incidentally Deceive that and not correct that. For instance, if you met me here and we planned to go on a date, I probably should tell you what my real name and my actual age are. (I am actually a nine-year-old girl name Simone. Just kidding… But if I were, I should tell you before we go out.) If I met someone dressed when iI was a woman, I certainly need to let them know that I’m a man before we go on a date. If I have a reason for wanting to present myself as a woman, that’s fine, but it’s certainly something I need to be honest about if I’m dating you.
Trans individuals may present themselves as a different gender for reasons that makes sense to them. But they have to be honest about that to someone before they go out on a date.

Very well said.
+1 yI think so, as it would simply be safer to avoid violence if the other person gets upset about it later.
At the same time I would think the trans person would want to, to avoid wasting time and falling in love with someone who may become violent with them later and then be upset and dump them.
Seems like a good way to head off all those problems.
71 Reply- +1 y
Agreed
+1 yIt's a tricky thing I would say yes, but also no. There's really fucked up people out there who would literally kill a trans person in a situation like this.
I think it's necessary to tell the person before anything serious happens but you should feel safe to do so.24 Reply- +1 y

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI believe so. If something, within reason, could change a person's decision to be intimate with you (outside of negligible things like "I work at McDonalds" or something), then I might even regard it as rape-like.
I know many people won't like this analogy, but it liken it to things like "stealthing," where a man secretly removes the condom directly before, or during, sexual intercourse. The fact of the matter is she consented, but under the assumption or impression the condom would be on.
If someone engages in intimacy, even as simple as kissing, under the assumption or impression you are male or female, and later finds out otherwise, it could be genuinely traumatizing or incredibly uncomfortable for them. It also might not, but that's not the point.
People might conflate gender and biological sex, and they have the right to their opinion but with all due respect, those are two different things, even if some consider them to be closely related. Some people might not subscribe to the notion of transgenderism, and you'd be exploiting them, as well as not respecting their sexuality of you omit this information from them.
Trans people have been asking for respect for a while now, and I believe they deserve it. But I also believe trans people should respect the sexuality of other's as well, even if their notions about it don't align with the other person's.00 Reply- 1.6K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 ybetter yet would be to engage them in a discussion of transgender issues. but for trans girls, you need to accept that trans attracted men will be interested in the dick... they're the best you can ask for. sadly, this is an issue that such understandings and conversations usually receive the hand. they ask for far more than they are willing to give. many trans girls treat the guys who are interested with the same disdain as the transphobes treat them. until that changes--no real progress can be made on any grand scale. ignore me if you want--just understand that you get the bill--not us.
21 Reply- +1 y
It's not that they are gay or bi --it's just that trans girls open them up to a whole nother world. We fetishize trans girls because they are fascinating--they make us child-like. Fetishizeing them is also a part of growing beyond our bigoted views.
Of course, otherwise the trans person is tricking the non-queer person, it's likely to end bad.

+1 yNot just moral I think it should be legal obligation as well… you may identify as the other gender but it is my right to know what you did so I can decide if I want stay in that situation or not. I would be extremely upset if someone tricked me into thinking they are a woman but we’re a man that transformed. To me, that’s still a man regardless. Even with all the “changes” that’s an criminal offense to keep that information from people.

+1 yYes. There are plenty of people that are against dating trans people and that would avoid incidents such as this. A former sailor in the US Navy stabbed a woman 119 times when she revealed she was transgender after they had sex. They chatted for two months online before they met and she didn't reveal it to him until after they became boyfriend and girlfriend and had intercourse. I don't condone violence, but at the same time, that's a very big deal to a lot of people.

10 Reply I understand there are safety precautions but I think it's better if everyone knows in the very beginning. Anything else is considered making choices for people without their consent.
I've occasionally swiped right on trans women that are fem passing, it's never lead to a date but I'd see where the interaction goes like any other woman. Point is that the choice was mine to make.

If a man pretends to be wealthy to get a females interested and she has sex with him, it is actually seen as a sex crime, because falsely telling a woman something to get her to have sex with you is seen as “wrong”.
therefore when women lie to men it should be a crime, and when people lie about their sex to others to get them interested it should also be Sex crime.
