Would it be wrong if I ask my boyfriend to pay for food instead because he doesn’t have to pay any bills and I make less?

We only plan to go out to eat twice a month together. I get paid only 14 dollars an hour and he gets paid 18.75 an hour but I have to help my dad pay bills and he doesn’t help pay any bills we’re both trying to save as much as possible and he’ll save more than me.

You could always have cooking dates at home or something. Or do activities that aren’t expensive.


Overall I don’t think it’s unreasonable tho, but be prepared for him to say no. Financial issues are a very common reason for breakups, mostly due to lack of communication. So just be honest, talk to him, and find a compromise in the middle. And get creative with other ideas if you have to.

I wouldn't ask him to pay, that is a little forward. If you state your case though and say you can't afford to go out twice a month bc you have to pay bills, then maybe he will take you, out of the kindness of his heart?
