My boyfriend takes hours to reply. What should I do?

My boyfriends grandfather past away a day ago and he’s been taking it pretty rough. I told him if he ever need someone to talk to or hold I’m here for him. He keep telling me how much he misses me and thankful he has someone to go through this with. Yesterday morning he texted me good morning and I responded around 11am. He ended up texting back around 6pm and I also responded. I sat and waited for him to text back but I didn’t get no response until 3pm next day when he called me. I didn’t answer- because I was hurt that he basically went more than 6 hours of texting me and I was worried. I understand grief is going within his family but he can’t bother to text me that he’ll be busy? What should I do in this situation? FYI we are two hours apart so we are kinda in a LDR.

You shouldn’t punish him for grieving. Not everyone handles it the same. Some people need support during that time and some want space, we are all different. I get being upset that he’s been distant but it’s been like 2 days since the death, not weeks or months. Try to be more considerate not selfish.
