I have a very good job in medical & make a very decent amount of money. Even I don't have $1000 on my person and I believe in cash over card. And I wouldn't put anything on my card for $1000 unless it was a) car repair or b) furniture.
Everything else, anything over $100 for 2 people at a resturant is expensive. Dinners out are supposed to be about enjoying your friends / family or - if a date - company. Not blowing up the bank account.
Are we talking about a surprise bill or something he should know about like cat insurance?
Uh no. That is a lot of money even for men who have money.
More context. You mean like a dinner and bar evening?

Objectively no. You can be rich and still be a loser, and you can be poor and still be successful. You can also start out poor and become rich, or start out rich and become poor.
Incorrect. I can normally easily handle that amount, but I only carry about $20 on me when I am out running, so if I were stopped I could not pay $1000 "on the spot."
Wait, what? I'm not sure what that means. Most of us don't have that kinda of money to spend on the spot. But for what exactly?
Depends on the content of the bill.
False.
