Is there a specific reason for this?

I have noticed that people will reach out to me for my availability so we can make plans; I'll say I'm available, just for them to say they made other plans. Why is that? Why would someone make other plans right after trying to make plans with someone else?

Those do not sound like great "friends". It's like they make plans with a few people, then pick out the more fun one. Even if they did do something with someone else, why not send a invite to that? Sounds very odd to me.

they are looking at you as a backup plan in case their original plans fall through. Hence the reason why I never treat people as a priority if they only treat me as an option
