Do you forgive tardiness for first dates? Consider these scenarios?

Scenario A: Your date is late but informs you maybe an hour before

Scenario B: Your date is late but texts you about 10-20 minutes after your agreed upon time to meet

Scenario C: Your date is late but doesn't inform you at all but just shows up 10-20 minutes after your agreed upon time to meeting and gives you an explanation when arriving

Scenario D: Same thing as scenario C but does NOT give you any explanation for their lateness after arriving.

Can you overlook any or all of these?

I can overlook Scenarios A but not B, C or D

I can overlook A and B but not C or D

I can overlook A, B, and C but not D

I can overlook all four but as long as its just this one time and not a habit. Also would be great if they had a good explanation for it.

No if they are late it's an automatic dealbreaker. i would leave.

Based on the worst date I've ever had that also happened to be my first date ever with someone I now see it as a massive red flag.

When I go on a date with someone I really like I will make sure I have a clear schedule and I'd be spending ages on it stressing out and trying to make myself look prefect.

It shows me they aren't that bothered and don't think much of you already.

I could understand if they had children or cared for someone or were stuck in traffic but otherwise there's no excuse.

My boyfriend is a carer himself and he was never late for our dates but the guy I went on my first date with was 2 hours late because he was at his friend's house playing xbox... he was 26 and asked to borrow my phone to call his mum to pick him up but that's not even the worst thing that happened

It reaaaaally depends on how late they are, the reasoning behind it, and whether they communicate it.


I used to be totally ok with tardiness because I know we all manage our time differently. But I’ve chosen to be more picky now. I used to let friends be 1-2 hours late because they had “bad mental health” and “couldn’t get out of bed”. The disrespect started escalating into other and larger disrespect. So my point is it’s good to be weary!

If a guy was late on first date he proposed, fuck that. I mean no one should be late but the guy being late I think is worse

Like I said - it depends how late he was and what the reason behind it was!

If he was over an hour late because he was asleep or chilling with his friends or whatever, then yeah. I’m never speaking to him again lol.

If he was late because something urgent came up, and he gave me a heads up and was apologetic about it I wouldn’t take it so personally. If he was super late, like over an hour late, I would ask to reschedule.

I was late to a date once (it was a 2nd or 3rd date) because I started my period that morning and felt like absolute shit.

I really didn’t want to cancel, so I told him the reason behind it and asked if we could push the date an hour or so because I was really unwell.

He agreed but still showed up at our agreed time and let me know he was waiting for me.

It really stressed me out and I guess there’s a reason we’re not together now lol. But essentially I really didn’t want to cancel on him.

I chose A, and I really am firm about this stance, but there are rare exceptions for B and C. I do realize that sometimes a phone can be lost. Sometimes more serious things can happen, so if my date genuinely feels bad and wants to make it up to me, then she might even be able to score some points, but like I said, this is rare. D is absolutely unacceptable.

First 1st time, I can overlook most. Shit happens. But give no explanation I don't like. I'll ask yknow maybe thy forgot what time we were supposed to meet n don't realize they're late—maybe I got the time too early. But if they rlly late n don't bother at least apologize i don't like it.

I can forgive A and in case of emergency B or C too. But I know I'd get hate for saying I am not the most punctual person, lol. I am usually late for everything even if I wake up early or leave the house early or try to...

My boyfriend was 15mins late for our first date due to parking etc and text me so it wasn’t too bad, and we still let each other know now 2yrs later.
If a person didn’t let you know I’d would be pretty crap behaviour for sure and I wouldn’t be happy.

I can kinda forgive A, B, C but not D. But also i said kinda, you waste my time these days, you can go fk ya self. Had some mofo hispanic got me a whole hour and 48 minutes to tell me at the gate "Sorry, the room has been taken." I came to see the thing... and he didn't text me this before. Asshole. If a date was late but had given me a heads up before hand the I'd be fine with that because she's acted like an adult.

The others the woman would be dropped, because I would no longer be where the date was set to be as 10 minutes is my cut off the I'd leave were the date was set for, as being late is not 'a woman's prerogative', it is a sign that there time management skills suck. If I can be on or ahead of time so can they.

Yeah. It is much nicer to know, but at some point I waited for over 2h. It was a no show eventually (or a show-up 3h late, at which point I was back home)

Depends on how the date goes for D. I can forgive the A, B, and C, but D is something that's not good. If they were late on the second and pulled D or C, id probably leave
