Knowing how to do many things and taking the initiative to do them is attractive. Knowing your limits and asking for help when you need it is also attractive. Accepting help when it is offered and working together as a team is also attractive. You don’t need to know how to do everything. You don’t have to be physically capable of doing everything. You just have to try and make an honest effort. Playing dumb or weak to get attention or manipulate someone into doing things you could otherwise do is unattractive. Nagging to get someone to do something for you is very unattractive, and especially so if you haven’t even tried to do it yourself yet. Acting entitled and expecting men to do things for you and provide for you is very unattractive. The same goes in the opposite direction. If a man knows how to do something, and he is trying to do it on his own, then let him do what he knows how to do. Don’t butt in and try to tell him what to do or that he can’t do it. If he asks for help, then stand by him and lend a helping hand. Listen to what he has to say and follow instructions so that the job can get done right. If you actually have knowledge and experience in the area, then share your ideas on how to get things done properly. Everyone likes to learn new things if someone is willing to take the time to teach them. If a man isn’t great at something but you are, and he asks for help take the time to help him out and do it for him.

my girl is going to have to be a house mom. It only works that way for me. I expect her to be dependent on me for a home and spending money and bills etc. but I would want her to have some basic skills, like know how to take care of the house and handle a bank account, or do minor maintenance and up keep on her car and maybe know how to cook and also be responsible enough to take care of certain expenses that I allocate finances for, so really the ideal woman for me also needs to know how to do stuff for herself and can be reliable with money.

You know what's the most manly shirt colour? It's eye-burning-strength neon-magenta. Because only men who think they're manly regardless of their shirt's colour will wear it.

I get that it makes is felt useful (in the "traditionally male" role), and I feel the same (though I think it's insecurity that drives us to need the feeling of being needed/useful), but I wouldn't throw in manhood or maleness in the mix - just the nice feeling about being needed/useful.

Being able to do things for yourself has nothing to do with being a provider. Being a functioning adult is not being a provider. You should be a functioning adult; men find that attractive.

OBVIOUSLY, there is no ONE answer for this!! Dah... It's all on what suits the couple! I think it should be a mutual effort for both partners to make the relationship work. One should not attempt an activity beyond their knowledge of the subject. Then it is certainly better to request help.
