Well yeah, trying to respond 3 days later as if it’s only been minutes would definitely make me think you aren’t interested in the conversation. I would have also lost interest in talking about that topic when you take so long. Word of advice, if this is a thing where you just aren’t big on texting then that’s ok, but if you are interested otherwise then it wouldn’t hurt to try hanging out in person if that’s what you prefer.

What I’m saying is that after a large amount of time has passed is when you respond to the conversation, and by then he’d have lost interest in the topic. If I ask what’s your favorite food on Tuesday, and you respond Thursday like “oh it’s tacos how about you?”, by then I don’t care anymore.

Ok first off, you have to put "all your eggs in one basket", because If you are dating multiple guys at once, they will all drop you, no self respecting guy is desperate enough to want the attention of a woman who is eyeing or dating other men, unless he's also eyeing/dating other women (in which case, he will see you as temporary and drop you or cheat on you at some point).

Secondly, dating strangers is fucking stupid, date a best friend. But either way, if you take longer than 8 hours to get back to him. he's going to think you're just not interested in him.

Thirdly, if its at the point of dating, you are already a couple. It goes strangers, then aquaintances, then friends, then best friends, then dating, then engaged, then married. You can't go for coffee or dinner or whatever with a stranger and call that dating or expect to get a relationship out of it anytime soon (unless you want to end up as a single mom or riddled with stds).
