A lot of people comment that my boyfriend should be spending more money on me but we both believe in going 50/50….. should my boyfriend be spending more on me or are people wrong?

My boyfriend and I have been together for just over a year and a half right now and it’s serious- we’ve both met each other’s families and talked about moving in together later on down the road

One day you may lose your job, or stay home with the baby. You can’t contribute financially. Will you move out?

Love/relationship is financial, emotional, physical, sexual … support …
Never take 90/10 or 80/20…but 50/50 is also not realistic…
If you buy him a present out of the blue, do you ask him to contribute his 50%?

If you two are roommates…yes, make sure things are 50/50 paying rent m/bills.

Chivalry isn’t going away anytime soon. So bf’s will pay more on average without even talking about it in the relationship. If nothing just to prove our masculinity.

That's between you and your boyfriend. No one else gets a vote. If you are earning approximately equally, then going 50/50 makes sense. I know a couple that shares a house and they split expenses.

I was brought up that the guy should pay more if not, all. If you are comfortable with it, you could split the cost evenly.

He treats me well and I don’t expect much from anyone

I think because guys need to feel like they are in charge and run the relationship. If he's paying for everything then he can say He's in charge because he puts food on your plate. So guys will still tell others that's the way it should be because they feel like they are losing power in the relationship if it's not that way.
