I’ve never done this but I’d advise anyone with this insecurity not to online date. I understand that it can be slim pickings IRL, and who knows, maybe your lifestyle doesn’t allow you many opportunities to meet someone to potentially date. But to seek someone online, you’ve got to have the right kind of mindset, not a defeatist. Otherwise you’re going to waste your time and the other persons, which isn’t very fair.

You think you're the only guy who ever got rejected? I once had a girl tell me, "I'd love to go out with you Friday night but that's the night I wash my hair!" You get over rejection by living through it and realizing that the world didn't come to an end. I got rejected MANY times, got over it, and finally developed some self-confidence. Read about the Law of Attraction, don’t give up on yourself. Putting yourself in the shoes of a victim makes your subconscious react as if you were. Think of yourself as confident, abundant, and capable of love. Think of how it would feel to be complete and use that energy as if it has already happened. I have never done that but I see where you're coming from. I'm better looking in pictures than in person. I'm afraid they will get disappointed when they see me and never want to see me again. But what you are doing is wrong. I mean, noone likes being ditched like that. Even if they did actually like you, ditching them has made them dislike you. Either be bold and embrace your body/appearance and go on the date, or simply don't set up dates. Don't waste time! Also you need to work on the self confidence!!!

Most women can do this because they have an abundance of choice when they're young. They just need a reason to disqualify you even if it has nothing to do with you. This and the fact they most they are passive and get asked out so they're not putting in any effort.

No. I error on the assumption that if he wants to date me, it's because he likes me. I do make a point of never polishing myself off to appear like anything other than my authentic day to day self, except for special occasions *after* we've established a relationship. The faster he gets to know the real me, the faster we'll both know if we're a match.

I have almost cancelled because of this, but didn’t do it because it wouldn’t be fair to myself or them. So I forced myself into going. Don’t worry, it isn’t ever as bad as you make it out to be, and just remember, the other person will be just as nervous as you! So you’re not alone and you can both joke with each other about how nervous you are and lighten the mood
