This is classic. A guy wants to get into a girls pants would NEVER talk about his wife. Not that you don’t already know about her but if you never hear details about her later on he can say anything and you won’t have any data to counter what he is saying.

Yes, he wants you to know his wife doesn't like him. I'm telling you this is because he would like to bed you. Before I divorced my ex I would do the same thing. There were girls at work who I talked with, and flirted with but I never mentioned the wife. When they brought it up I would say “Her? She doesn't care about me”
He may not have current plans but he is leaving his options open.
